SkydiveStMarys 0 #1 December 6, 2005 Its that time of year and here are two new ones I am trying..people are "swearing" by these recipes so I'm willing to give it a go....though nothing compares to my dear ol' mom's sugar cookie recipe, handed down from generation to generation. feel free to keep the thread going by adding your favorite recipes. COOL WHIP COOKIES (these sound really neat) 1 box chocolate cake mix 2 cups Cool Whip 1 large egg Powdered sugar Mix together the cake mix, Cool Whip, and egg. Roll a spoonful of dough in powdered sugar and place on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes. and if you live in the south, you have heard of this type of cake, found a recipe to turn them into cookies using a cake mix. My sister in Philly has never heard of Red Velvet and I didn't until I moved into the deep south. Red Velvet Cookies by Anita Bautsch This red velvet cookie is so easy to make and is great to serve any time, but especially for holidays like Valentine's Day, Fourth of July, and Christmas. Serve them plain or with the cream cheese frosting. 1 Box Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake Mix 2 eggs 1/3 cup oil Mix all ingredients together. This will make a cookie dough. Roll into balls and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Flatten down slightly (depending on the thickness you desire). Bake at 375° until the tops crackle (about 8-10 minutes) or until desired doneness. Cool and then frost with basic... Cream Cheese Frosting 1 8 ounce package cream cheese -- softened 1/4 cup stick margarine or butter -- softened 2 teaspoons milk 1 teaspoon vanilla 4 cups powdered sugar Beat cream cheese, margarine, milk and vanilla in medium bowl with electric mixer on low speed until smooth. Gradually beat in powdered sugar on low speed, 1 cup at a time, until smooth and spreadable. Frosts one 13 × 9-inch cake generously, or fills and frosts one 8- or 9-inch two-layer cake. Refrigerate any remaining frosting. Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting: Add 2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled, with the margarine. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. wmw999 2,589 #4 December 6, 2005 I'll post some tommorrow. I'll probably be making 15-20 dozen cookies of various types this year, maybe more. Pepperkakar, spritz, sugar cookies, ginger snaps, almost cookies, cherry winks (these are awesome!) and a host of others. SkydiveStMarys 0 #5 December 6, 2005 I totally understand....time being of the essence these days. I tend to look for recipes that don't include alot of ingredients, but also sound unique, like those Cool Whip cookies. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.
