One Year Ago I thought......

Recommended Posts

A year ago I got accepted to Nursing School. . .all I hoped for was to get through it. Well, I have two semesters under my belt and I am pulling a 4.0 gpa. . .life is good. . .

I did think I would skydive more this year but well, life kinda got in the way. . .

Last year at this time I was on Active Duty with the Air Force, not exactly sure what the next year would bring. It's been an exciting year, sort of. Some disappointments, some good stuff. Not nearly enough skydiving (my fault).

Returned to my civilian job in March 05, got a new military job in Oct 05, working on the possibility of an entire new career in 06. Plenty to think about for sure.

If I got called back to active duty, I'd be gone in a second. Despite the turbulence it causes in my life. In the long run it's good stuff.

Cheers,

Mo

How many of us ever predict with any real degree of accuracy where we’ll be in the future? I had one set of expectations twelve months ago, another set nine months ago, and another set six months ago. They were all wrong.

We can learn from the past, and we can prepare for the future, but in the end, whatever will be, will be. Rather than focus on a past that cannot be relived or a future that cannot be foreseen, I simply resolve every day to do the best I can where I am, with what I’ve got.

As to where I’ll be this time next year, surprise me.
I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

A year ago today, I was effectively unemployed and unemployable in my field. I thought I would become a Daytona street person and end up dumpster diving.

Today, I have a job working in my field, in one of the top area law firms, working for the president of the firm who has been in practice for 50 years. Great firm, great position, impossible job, because as much as I love him, he's impossible to work for.

So today, I quit.

Ask me again next year. Because if you ask me where I expect to be a year from now, I've got no friggin' clue.

A year ago today I thought that I would be going to a mediocre school getting a degree that I only chose by default. I also hoped that I would be feeling much better about our move to WA (from CA.)

Today.. I am going to my dream school, pursuing a degree that I am absolutely giddy about and feeling very proud of myself.

And now I love Washington!

A year ago, I would not have believed we would be moving back to the hill country (Texas) and I CERTAINLY would not have believed I would be skydiving. I'm totally stunned at where I am now, but I LOVE IT!!

Wow, A year ago today I had finally finished my bachelors degree.... and I was thinking that in a year, I would be in Grad school working on my Masters. And.... I'm starting Grad school in January, so it looks like I'm on schedule. The in between time has been a great year of relaxation with a trip to Italy, Cabo San Lucas, and recently Hungary, Turkey, Romania, and France.

As for next year... I will still be in Grad school, and working, but not taking many vacations as between the time and money it takes to go to school.... I will have none. :D
