Lostinspace 0 #1 December 8, 2005 I lost my driver’s license. I went to the DMV, and now have a temporary paper driver’s license. Is there any car rental company that will accept the paper license? -belinda c
McDuck 0 #2 December 8, 2005 As long as the number checks out, I can't see any reason why they wouldn't. If it becomes an issue, you could ask that they call the DMV and "run the number".Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school. mailin 0 #3 December 8, 2005 Not in RI, at least not when I tried 3 years ago Can you get a state issued ID sooner than the DMV will issue a license? Where ya going? JenArianna Frances
mailin 0 #4 December 8, 2005 actually - I just remember. When I tried 3 years ago they were different paper IDs - the new ones should work out fine. We used Shawn's to rent a car to drive to KY one time. We used Hertz and it worked out fine. DOn't rent from the airport - you'll pay tons in taxes. NWFlyer 2 #5 December 8, 2005 Do you have some other form of photo ID to go along with it, like a passport? That might help the situation (but you're probably best off calling the rental company to be sure)."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Lostinspace 0 #6 December 8, 2005 It looks just like my license, just on paper with an "official stamp" I have lost my license before. I tried to rent a car in July with a paper one, at a no name discount place, they would not take it. I do have a passport... and credit cards. Jen, I am hoping to go to florida next week. Want to come?

But I'm not allowed to travel for the forseeable future - not even to CA to visit Shawn's family for the holiday Make a jump or 10 for me! Miss you, have fun! davedlg 0 #9 December 8, 2005 The paper license probably won't work, but the passport most likely will. How else would foreigners rent cars in the US?
NWFlyer 2 #10 December 8, 2005 QuoteIt looks just like my license, just on paper with an "official stamp" Yeah, we get those in Washington, too. I was just thinking that the passport could serve as a better form of photo ID that, when presented along with the paper license, might keep the rental company happy. I think they'd be a bit concerned about accepting a paper ID as a positive form of ID.
wingnut 0 #11 December 8, 2005 QuoteCan you get a state issued ID sooner than the DMV will issue a license might be carefull about this.. i know in ohio if you get a state id instead of a drivers lisc you give up your driving privliges and have to retake ALL the test again to get your lisc. but then again, in ohio, you loose your lisc, you go with your birth cert and SS card and you walk out of the bmv with a new photo lisc... wel minus your "fee" you owe for the replacment.... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
Lostinspace 0 #12 December 9, 2005 Thrifty said "No problem". fyi. car rental was cheaper from http://www.thrifty.com/ then from orbitz. (even though i would not use orbitz if they are partners with skyride)

In indiana, when you lose yours, they just take your picture again and after paying the fee, you get another regular license. Seems silly to issue a temporary paper license, assuming that you will eventually need a regular plastic one...Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO! You can change your thread title to "Temporary LEGAL License" Bring a photo ID with it. You'll be fine. ...
