Lindercles 0 #52 December 10, 2005 HOORAH! cheers to you mate! i haven't seen leaps in logic like that since the last interview i saw with a professional boxer! your ridiculousness is truly to be commended! is it proper to bow?
Cudlo 0 #53 December 10, 2005 Its fairly common to take a concept to an extreme to illustrate the counter point. I will try to simplify it. Are you perfect? Do you have any flaws/bad habits? Would you like a public discussion about those flaws? Perhaps we should have a thread dedicated to discussion about the poster who nearly (intentionally) caused a serious traffic accident because of a cigarette butt._________________________________________ "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid." - Kierkegaard
Lindercles 0 #54 December 10, 2005 it is bad form to take a concept to an extreme to illustrate the counter point. no. yes. it happens, welcome to the world of skydivers. please, do start that thread. i would love to compare one action of one man to the repeated actions of millions of people worldwide everyday. ccowden 0 #55 December 10, 2005 Oh, well then, my bad. I didn't realize it was a fairly common thing. This isn't a college debate class where people try to act smart. It's a simple point that alot of smokers are careless about littering and how disgusting it is. If you want to start a thread about something else that people do that is careless, then have at it. I agree with you that we all do things that have a bad effect on the world, but defending the act of throwing your butts on the ground is ridiculous. Cudlo 0 #56 December 10, 2005 Bad form.. oh It's bad enough you have such a useless, nasty, stinky, unattractive habit.. That, I would call bad form in a polite conversation. i haven't seen leaps in logic like that since... When similar forms of litter were brought up (gum, rubber bands, bottle caps, etc) it was simply dismissed as irrelevant. If the purpose of this thread was simply to bitch about other people's habits and leave absolutely no room for introspection into our own habits then I apologize._________________________________________ "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid." - Kierkegaard
Cudlo 0 #57 December 10, 2005 but defending the act of throwing your butts on the ground is ridiculous I didn't defend the act of littering with cigarette butts. I completely agree that it is a really bad habit, as are many many other things._________________________________________ "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid." - Kierkegaard

sundevil777 102 #59 December 10, 2005 Why focus on when they are thrown from cars? I have seen many flick them away when standing next to a dedicated bin for butts! There must be something very satisfying about flicking it away. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA You expect people to be polite and respectful (not litter) with their actions but not with their words? if so, how do you expect anyone to improve themselves? are you implying that all self improvement stems from criticism?_________________________________________ "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid." - Kierkegaard

Dumpster 0 #64 December 10, 2005 Ooooh! I'm gonna get so flamed!!!! [Dennis Leary mode] I'm one of those smokers you'll see ditching my butt out the window - All the time - I like doing it at night at watching it explode in a shower of sparks all over the road behind me. I eat shit from McDonalds and Burger King all week - I drink beer every day of the week. I work for a company that produces lots of non-biodegradable crap - Millions of pounds a year. I prefer plastic over paper at the grocery store - I take LONG showers, flush the toilet twice weather it needs it or not, and leave the water running while I shave and brush my teeth. I drive everywhere, don't own a bicycle, and I don't recycle anything even though the city gave me one of those cheezy blue bins to make it "easier". I turn the thermostat up in the winter and down in the summer. Yep - You got it - I'm an Asshole!![/Dennis Leary mode] Oh - Let the flaming begin!!! Bwahahahahaha!!!!! Similar forms or litter do NOT present the same level of danger as a lit cigarette, hitting the face of a motorcycle rider or going down the front of a leather jacket and burning the rider. Both of these have happened to me, from inconsiderate wankers who threw their butts out of their car windows. Both times I was very lucky not to have been seriously hurt by either the butt or the subsequent violent manourves on my bike trying to prevent myself from being burnedYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! popsjumper 2 #66 December 10, 2005 I threw a butt head out one time but she got up and caught me at the next light....My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Falcon5232, SCS8170, SCSA353, POPS9398, DS239
gravitysucks 0 #67 December 10, 2005 I knew a cop who would ticket people for littering if they didn't go back and find their butt. It didn't matter if it was actually theirs, it was just amusing watching them look all over on the road for a cigarette butt. Which isn't hard to do, any intersection with a stoplight is peppered with them. No big surprise.... if it doesn't bother you to trash your lungs then you probably don't care too much about the environment either. But that doesn't mean we can't be friends!
