Rate the DZO at your primary DZ and please explain why, if you can

Got to toot my own horn...I love the sport of skydiving, I love people, I love to see people get excited about accomplishing an awesome task. I loved running a DZ. With that being said...I was an awesome DZO! I just ran out of money[:/]:(>:(

I have been to several DZ's in my brief tenure in skydiving. I have met different DZO's with very different philosophies on business.

Just wonder what you all think.

doesn't give a shit about safety and why I'm looking for a new dz.

(nota bene - NOT eloy - eloy is wonderful. I wish every dz had a bryan burke)

This is a dangerous thread.
Some DZO's read the forums and know our nicknames.... if you call a DZO out here, that DZO could know who you are, and when you show up again at that DZ, it could be less than enjoyable.

Of all the DZO's that I have met in my time jumping, I only have had serious problems with one of them, and I don't jump there anymore because of it.

Correct, thus the disclaimer "if you can";)

Lloyd (AKA Floyd) at Skydive Airtight has been good to me.:)
From my perspective the DZO job (at least at small cessna DZs) is really hard. You need the tandems and students to make money (very little at that), plus you try and keep the licensed skydivers happy as well. It is a thankless job. Until now ... THANKS LLOYD!B|

The Nelsons rule. Really nice, down to earth, and willing to jump with newbs. Plus they're both awesome in the sky.

Seems like the results of the poll prove out what I've seen from DZOs... while one or two might be out only for the $$$ most DZOs realize that if they just want to make money that there are MUCH easier ways to do it besides skydiving. Most DZOs are in the game because they love the sport... remember the VERY OLD joke about how to make a small fortune in skydiving?

he's awesome. thoughtful, competent, talented, really good at teaching and committed to students, fun on the plane (he sings), gets everyone relaxed all the way around, looks out for people, doesn't talk negatively about people or dzs, is committed to the sport and having a good environment for everyone, packs a damn good reserve :), and his hair always looks amazing on film. i am quite a fan.
life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.

agreed, but I don't care. I've already called them out and been ostracized.

For sure DZO's have varios strategies for business. Like to see DZo's interaction with their customers and a true smile. When i observe a DZo enjoying themselves on their dz it makes me smile and feel good to be there. What i've learned about DZo's in general, there are several good ones. There have been asshole DZo's (1 deceased in Co.), i've dealt with and no lomger deal with them. This holds true to asshole skydivers/people. There are way more nice ones to deal with than are assholes. i enjoy the people in skydiving, not the assholes.
