windcatcher 0 #31 December 13, 2005 QuoteBoth! Kody on the left is a husky-wolf mix, and Kayla on the right a malamute-wolf mix. when I took a look at the pic a 2nd time, I thought "one of those has got to be a husky, the other malamutte". I thought I always wanted a husky, but I like the malamuttes better, they look more like wolves to me. sorry for the hijack skymama Mother to the cutest little thing in the world... tigra 0 #32 December 13, 2005 Well, I don't have a tree YET, but we should have one up and decorated this weekend. I haven't had too many Christmas' with no tree, even when I was broke and living alone.
BillyVance 35 #33 December 13, 2005 All through my life at my parents' house, we have always used the same topper, a home-made sequined and sparkly star that is now 40 years old. It's still in one of the boxes in their basement. I have a newer store-bought star that I'm not really impressed with, since it requires a strong, stiff tree-top for it to hold up. This Christmas tree that we have now in my home is a Cedar tree that I cut down for free in the woods next to my house. It stands 8 feet tall in the living room, the top barely reaching the sloped ceiling. However, the trunk is very narrow and the very top will not support the weight of the star, so nothing is up there this time."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
FlankSteak 0 #34 December 13, 2005 I think this year, I'll put my little rat-dog on top of the tree - she's always sliding along the ground itching her ass anyway, why not shove a tree branch up her ass. That way, my ornament will be animated :)______________________________________________ "...whatever stands against freedom must be set aside, be it ritual or superstition or limitation in any form." caress 0 #36 December 13, 2005 I actually had to start over with my x-mas stuff last year I was lucky to have a tree a after moving to Washington State from Arizona. We were butt ass poor and I actually got a little clear and gold reindeer that sits on top of the tree. This year things have come around and we actually have bulbs The whole time growing up we had a special angel that sat up on the tree top. The decorations my mom had were from like the early 50's and 60's I wish I had those still. I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right. FlankSteak 0 #37 December 14, 2005 QuoteMake sure you take a picture of that for us. The thought actually made me laugh out loud when writing my post. If you hadn't seen a picture of my dog a few months back requested to post by livendive, here is my beautiful rat-dog (happening to be cracking up while taking the picture).______________________________________________ "...whatever stands against freedom must be set aside, be it ritual or superstition or limitation in any form." TheRus 0 #38 December 14, 2005 Actually, we are using my Jagermeister cap as a tree topper this year (when I am not wearing it). We have pics... I'll post one once we get them on the computer. Yeah, it's fine, we'll walk down the line. tbrown 26 #39 December 14, 2005 We have a star. Also some angels and a Yosemite Sam with candy canes. He likes being up thar with all them purty angels. Last year he married one named Belle. She calls him Samuel and tells him to mind his manners, but she loves him very much. Hey, I'm not makin' this up ! Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity ! BillyVance 35 #40 December 16, 2005 After a two-day visit to my folks (which coincided with my absence from the forums) I had a chance to pick through all the Christmas decorations they had and take what I wanted. They were going to donate what they didn't want to the victims of Katrina charity. So.... the one thing I knew I wanted was that star that I mentioned earlier in this thread. Yep, got it now, and it's going on the tree in the morning! mouth 0 #44 December 16, 2005 When my mom was alive we had this beautiful blown glass star. It was very thin so you could see the lights twinkle through it. My first step mom didn't like it so we didn't use it and it got stuffed at the bottom of a box. When I finally got out on my own my dad and third step mom gave me the box. Many of the ornaments were broken as they were the thin glass from the 50's. All I salvages were 6 ball ornaments and my pixie elves I got every year until I was 12. The ornaments sit in a cut glass vase in my china cabinet all year and then are put on the tree Dec 17 in memory of my mom. The pixies were divided between my girls and they have them on their trees in their rooms. Oh, and now I have an angel on top of my tree while the girls both have stars on theirs. I have already picked out angels for them but put them up until they get married or get out on their own as they are made out of white wedding lace. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.
