jani 0 #1 August 27, 2002 Hey, I just moved to the USA (NJ) and I need help finding an insurance policy that covers skydiving accidents. I'm mainly looking for an accident insurance, and I'm not certain if I have to get a full medical insurance. Can anyone recommend a good policy? -Jani
PhillyKev 0 #2 August 27, 2002 Your best bet is probably to look for a policy with "named exclusions". Meaning, they cover everything except for what is specifically denied coverage in the policy. If it's not listed as an exclusion, it has to be covered. That being said, make sure skydiving isn't one of the exclusions. I have Independence Blue Cross/Blue shield through my empolyer for medical insurance and confirmed that I am covered for skydiving related injuries. QuickDraw 0 #3 August 27, 2002 May be worth trying your local DZ, they must know / or have contacts in the buisness. Probably no good to you as i am in the UK. But here you go anyway. http://www.navigatortravel.co.uk/ -- Hope you don't die. -- I'm fucking winning

freeflir29 0 #5 August 27, 2002 www.etdbw.com/fh/stm/servlet/main If all you want is something for "Major medical emergencies" like breaking a leg at the DZ I'd try them. I had a policy for a little while with them after I got out of the military. I wasn't worried about check ups or dental just wanted to be covered if I burned in a hook turn. I think I paid about $270 for a 6 month policy.

DeeZee 0 #7 August 27, 2002 I just got a policy activated with State Farm right before I went to Rantoul. It costs a little more, but it specifically covers skydiving. Beware though, the more u jump, the higher the premium. Hope this helps.
jfields 0 #8 August 27, 2002 Jani, What kind of insurance are you looking for, other than covering skydiving accidents? Health, life, disability, etc? Comprehensive, catastrophic, etc. The more specific you can be, the better recommendations people can give. The first 100,000 is covered with skydiving but my second 100,000 policy isn't because I took it out AFTER I started jumping. There is a specific exclusion in ther for "crazy people" who skydive. You are also correct that the number of jumps you make in a year can greatly effect your policy. My health insurance is through the State of GA. The coverage isn't great but they can't deny me so I guess that is a good thing. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. Accident/hospitalization was about $55, full medical coverage was about $85. At the time I was taking flight training and I was concerned about coverage if I nosed it in. His response was "As long as your not running from the cops or in the plane dropping bombs we don't care." I am not a skydiver, but I do use State Farm Insurance (much to my dismay) and they never want to cover anything. For instance, my husband is a professional musician, so they won't cover his musical instruments!!! (Do you have any idea how much I wanted to say: "I'm not a skydiver, but I play one on TV."?
