SkydiveStMarys 0 #1 December 16, 2005 Just wondering how many of us do a "themed" Christmas tree..... Whats you "theme"? Does it change every year? BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.
SkydiveStMarys 0 #2 December 16, 2005 I guess I need to answer my own post..... Really don't do a themed tree persay.....we tend to get cool lights though, every two or so years. Agonize about what lights to put on...not sure why that is, but we tend to put on alot of lights....this year its blue and white twinkle lights, not so cool, but it was a last minute thing. Last years lights weren't working and we didn't feel like going thru the hassle of searching high and low for the ultimate lights, we'll do that next year. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. skymama 37 #3 December 16, 2005 I have all sorts of different ornaments, no theme really other than a lot of red. I insist on putting the ornaments up that the kids have made for me over the years. My daughter can't stand putting up the one where she has shorter hair, glasses and braces in a picture frame ornament. I buy an ornament on every vacation that I go on and I buy most of my stuff at the after Christmas sales. This is the first year of my life I've ever used an artifical tree for my main tree. I got it for $30 last year after Christmas. I figured if I hated it this year, I was still saving $50 for the same size in a real tree. It looks nice from far away, I just try not to touch it to remind me that it's fake. My kids each have their own trees in their rooms for the ornaments they collect. My daughter collects the Barbie ornaments from Hallmark (even though it's been years since she's played with a Barbie) and my son has a sports/Miami Dolphin tree with a few airplane ornaments from a Hallmark collection. I went into a friend's house the other day and her tree was perfectly put together, like what you would see in a magazine. The only thing was there was absolutely nothing personal on it. It made it look a little sad to me because of that. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
SkydiveStMarys 0 #4 December 16, 2005 I have a Christmas ornament that I made in 1st grade, I remember making it and being proud of it. It is an angel with black eyes (signs of things to come?). The paint job is crappy too, but I just can't throw it away and my family cringes when i hang it. I usually hang it on the "back" of the tree so no one sees it, but I know its there and it has hung on my tree every year! I also have some ornaments from my parents tree, though quite a few have broken over the years..moving, tree falling over(yes this happens, we nailed the sucker to the floor one year!LOL!), etc. I still have one huge hand blown glass ornament, faded as it is, that is from when i was a child. I remeber this ball distinctly and it is my absolute fav. It is precious to me. My kids get an ornament or two every year (plus the ones they make at school each year), so by the time they are ready to move out of the house and get a tree of their own, they will have a great start....plus they will have memories to "hang" on their tree. I'm sure they will have an "angel w/black eyes" that they will hang too. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. yardhippie 0 #5 December 16, 2005 You left out the option for "no tree" no tree this year for many reasons. but next year, we'll be in a home of our own AND have room for a tree.Goddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #

klingeme 1 #7 December 16, 2005 Isn't Christmas in general a theme of it's own? Mark Klingelhoefer
SkydiveStMarys 0 #8 December 16, 2005 No its a holiday, the way you celebrate it could be the theme. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.

smiles 0 #11 December 16, 2005 I am so excited....just got my tree for 2005 in the living room. My theme every year is to purchase a real tree and this year is a beauty Norway Spruce, I fell instantly in love! So- the burlaped root ball is tough to stand and the only heavy duty container I could find big enough was my fav Budweiser cooler...(King of Beers!) Therefore I have named my tree..."Bud" "Bud" stands 4 1/2 ft. tall and is real bushy and thick!...when planted in spring at our cabin he will grow 50ft. Don't care for tinsel or garland but love loads of tiny lights...this years theme outside is blue/green LED lights and also found tiny ones for the tree also blue/green. Ornaments are also hand made over the years, nature theme. Pinecones we collect, and the hand made mouses in bed! 1/2 a walnut shell is the bed with a acorn glued inside. The acorn (mouse) has ears made with felt glued, eyes painted on with felt pen, and a blanket of felt covering him, also wool tail hanging from walnut. Happy Holidaze! check out Santa Rawks! Bodyflight.Net 0 #12 December 17, 2005 I do a different theme every year! I used to work at the Incredible Christmas Place here in the Smokies decorating hundreds of trees and I picked up a few handy tricks along the way. I don't like to use nearly as many lights as they do Mostly I choose a color theme each year and buy new ribbon and ornaments to coordinate. My favorite was our blue & silver tree for sure.. This year we went with Red and White Candy Theme.. candy canes & peppermint candies on the ribbon and around the tree! We still have to make the topper, which we'll be making outta sticks, glitter & glue (saw it on Martha last week) and we'll do this week together now that school is out! Check out my holiday decor.. and yes that's a snowman para-pet hangin in the scene! http://www.bodyflight.net/xmas05/RibbonBow.jpg http://www.bodyflight.net/xmas05/HolidayScene.jpg http://www.bodyflight.net/xmas05/05Tree.jpg http://www.bodyflight.net/xmas05/TreeBow.jpg http://www.bodyflight.net/xmas05/Stockings.jpg http://www.bodyflight.net/xmas05/Garland.jpg
