Xmas gift for boss?

I am kind of in a quandry as to what to do for my boss for Christmas - if anything. What is the appropriate kind of gift to give your boss and/or assistant? Do any of you have any ideas? I don't know the appropriate etiquette. Is a bottle of wine and/or box of chocolates too lame? Or am I expected to spend more money and do something nicer? What is the appropriate amount of money to spend? Or do I have to get anything? On a side note, I don't really like him very much as he is quite rude and dismissive.

Bottle of wine is cool, or maybe a gift certificate to a restaurant or a local place that he could eat lunch at.

Seriously, it's a chance to ignore someone. Personally, I wouldn't bother with anything. It's my hope that jerks like him find nothing in their stocking but holes.

yea, i think you are right. Why should I feel bad about not getting something for him when he is such a jerk most of the time. The entire point of Christmas is the spirit and the joy, and not doing something because you feel you have to.

This year I've found myself in a situation that usually doesn't happen for me. I'm down on funds around the holiday. I usually budget so this is not so. So I'm just not buying stuff for people that aren't in my immediate family with I think 2 or 3 exceptions. My boss has not even come across my mind. Office of about 20, don't think anyone is getting her anything.

BWAAA!!! I hated my boss, he was a prick... a butt plug given anonymously would have screwed his mind up trying to figure out who gave it as everybody (some 50 people) hated working for the SOB...

Me, I wouldn't waste my money, just get a rock, paint it black with a magic marker and make a card that says "Merry Christmas asshole! Here's a lump of coal for your trouble!"
