Geek question

Recommended Posts

I don't know how it happened, but I since about a week ago I have got some kind of instant English to Spanish translator incorporated in MSIE. Every time the mouse goes over a word, a Spanish translation pops up in a tooltip box. I can't see anything obvious in the startup files or installed programs that might be doing this.

Any ideas for where I should look

Slightly more helpful answer: In IE 6, click on Tools | Manage Add-ons. This will show a list of all the plug-ins installed. You can disable them as you see fit.

If you're unsure as to whether you should keep a plugin or not, google its name.

This, however, is treating the symptoms, not the cause. The correct long-term solution is to install Firefox.

Is firefox anygood on Mac Bob?

I've used firefox on Mac OS X for a while and it's pretty good; it was mostly useful to me so that I could keep using the same key combinations I do on other non-Mac machines. All that said, I haven't had any real issues with Safari, it's just a convenience thing.
