waltappel 1 #1 December 20, 2005 Even if you hate watching professional wrestling, it's worth watching tonight. They are showing WWE in Afghanistan entertaining our troops. As far as I'm concerned, they get a free pass for life. Walt

bob.dino 1 #3 December 20, 2005 I don't think there's anything I could say about a bunch of half-naked American men and women prancing around in Afghanistan that wouldn't get this thread moved to SC .

BillyVance 35 #5 December 20, 2005 They did a great job putting together a nice tribute to the troops, and I'm not talking about the matches. It's all the behind the scenes stuff, talking to the troops, the wrestlers getting a chance to shoot some guns and mortars, and visiting the injured... Waaay cool... It's funny how these wrestlers call those troops their heroes, and the troops love it when famous show performers come out to entertain them. Even if they did it solely for the good press it would generate, well, they still did it and like you said, they did a GREAT job. Walt
BillyVance 35 #7 December 20, 2005 It's no wonder WWE's RAW program is one of the highest rated cable programs... if not the top... They put on a good show week in week out and the arena's always full..."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
Lindercles 0 #8 December 20, 2005 I remember there being a big stink around this time a year or two ago. Shaquille O'Neil went out and bought a couple of truckloads of toys for needy kids and took cameras along with him. A lot of people bitched that it was just a form of shameless self promotion, that it was a grab for attention. Maybe it was, but the point is he did it. He has more than he could ever need and he gave some back. Yeah, wrestling sucks, but they definitely get credit for doing something right.
NlghtJumper 0 #9 December 20, 2005 Yeah, the wrestled out at Bagram Air Field... which just so happens to be where I am stationed. I got to see a lot of people I knew on TV. For instance the pilot that got a silver star and his wife. I use to work with them on a daily basis. I am working day shift currently so I didnt get to go see the show. But I was lucky enough to catch a concert just a few days back. Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders came with them!!! I don't know what the troops think about that kind of thing, but my opinion of the people who go to remote areas to bring a little bit of home to where our military men and women are serving, well I think they are damn good people for doing that.
