soulshine 0 #27 December 20, 2005 QuoteIt kills me to know that the Humane Society will have dogs housed on Christmas day and kills me even more that they will get an influx of "puppies" about 4 to 5 months after Christmas, because the "present" for lil Timmy keeps peeing in the house. I know what you mean. It is so sad that people don't think through the decision to give an animal as a present. Recently I was looking for a dog at the local shelters. It didn't work out but when I saw all the animals in there my heart just broke. Now I volunteer there whenever I have some extra time. I open up the pens and let the doggies run in the fenced yard. It only takes an hour but I leave with lots of puppy kisses and a warm fuzzy feeling. Bombing for peace is like fucking for virginity! ~DEVIOUS BEEF~~FGF #69~
shropshire 0 #28 December 20, 2005 I agree... all 3 of our girls have come from a shelter (actually a really nice one clicky). SkydiveStMarys 0 #29 December 20, 2005 FYI.......there are alot of rescue groups on line that are geared towards specific breeds. You have to jump thru alot of hoops to get one, but thats the way it should be considering their past histories. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. shropshire 0 #32 December 20, 2005 Thanks. We down-sized too. From a Dobe to 2 Springer Collie crosses (same amount of dog but in 2 packages!).... They are so different from Amber. They love to swim and need way more exercise than she did (towards the end, especially, she loved to curl up in the sun and sleep all day!). . Regards, (.)Y(.) SkydiveStMarys 0 #33 December 20, 2005 We were never big fans of small dogs..they got under your feet, they yap, etc. Then I rescued our newest dog, a Rat Terrier. OMG! She is a hoot! Super smart, size of a cat with more energy and just as cute as can be. Best of all she is NOT a barker. Has a personality of the other three combined, though I love them with all my heart too. Our way of thinking was...if your gonna get a dog..GET A DOG! Nothing smaller then a large horse would do for us. LOL!! She showed us the error of our ways. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. shropshire 0 #35 December 20, 2005 People told us we couldn't have a large dog like Amber, in our small house... but actually, she took up almost no room at all, she lived in an open cupboard (no door) under the stairs and when ever she'd had emough company, would take her self off to be alone.. Katzeye 0 #36 December 20, 2005 We have a rottie (he's 12 now) and adopted a Terrier mix puppy girl this past August. Talk about energy! She's either on or off, there is no mellow in-between like with our Rott. She also gets into everything. My hubby came home last night to find an amped out terrier running amuk and a worn out Rottie. Seems someone forgot to put the bag of Milano's away last night after some dessert in front of the TV. Sure enough, she helped herself to the bag and I think she shared a few cookies with the Rott. She was so hyped she was VIBRATING! She is the cutest thing ever, but quite the handful. Is a chicken omelette redundant?

Scoop 0 #39 December 20, 2005 QuoteSHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY!!!!!!!! What comes around goes around.......someday a dog may save your sorry ass and then you'll be a born again------. Hey, Ive had dogs protect me! At a riot and public order situation. We once had 12 guys pinned up against a wall with the power of that dog! Hehe. I WANT TO BE A DOG HANDLER so its not that I dont like animals, as I stated earlier. But I would rate my life higher than any dog. Dogs are tools but yeah, you get attached to them. My mate cried like a kid when he had to give his dog back due to promotion. Id appreciate it if you werent so abusive though
charmsdroppop 0 #40 December 20, 2005 YOU"RE THE ONE THAT'S ABUSIVE HERE OBVIOUSLY. You still don't get it claiming that dogs are a tool. You do not deserve to be a dog handler if you consider it to be any lesser than you! What is wrong with you? MAN'S BEST FRIEND......HELLO. What's it gonna take? You certainly don't have the "life experience or true heart" of the life of a dog. You piss me off and the majority agrees. Get a clue not a grip!!!!is it dark yet

Scoop 0 #44 December 20, 2005 Thats cool. We use German Shephards as general patrol dogs too. Lovely loyal animals. Duke (the one now given back) used to bark at people outside the van then give you a little affectionate lick on the cheek to reassure you that your OK. I love those dogs. Got a great presence about them too. My friend works for the fire authority down in ___. I can't remember what the chief did to her but she wanted to get him back for a little practical joke he played so she had me call and talk to him for over an hour. I pretended to be the crazy cat lady with 9 cats at home and I was worried that if we had a fire they would be afraid of the firemen coming to save them. I was trying to get him to bring his firetruck and his men by my house so that I could introduce them to my cats so they wouldn't be afraid in case of a fire. The guy thought I was batty. It seems silly now but at the time it was pretty funny. I believe it started a rash of practical jokes around the office. Firemen are cool. -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.)
