Girlfalldown 0 #1 December 16, 2005 If you had $300K, were completely debt free and had no possessions other than your rig and a few other personal things, what would you do? Say you were middle aged, sick of your job and had nothing really keeping you in the place you were now. Just a hypothetical question. -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.)

Give some to the needy. Learn to fly and maybe buy a little plane. Get some more base gear that's for sure. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

squirrel 0 #16 December 16, 2005 well, funny you ask. we actually do have 300K. a few mortages though too, rental property. anyway, we worked on location for years, invested in real estate and got to this point. sooooo....quit the jobs, and built our first house out of pocket, $250k to build, should fetch about 75K return after realitor, taxes, and fees. not bad for 6 months of coordination...so, planning to do it again, and again, and again...until rentals paid off. then.....nothing, absolutely nothing....well maybe a skydive or something. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him? squirrel 0 #20 December 16, 2005 QuoteQuoteT But what if you really didn't want to work for the rest of your life? $300K isn't enough to live on forever. This really is hypothetical. 3 years ago 300k would get you 3 houses where i live now, today they get $1000/month. so, you would have 3000 a months to play with. but, now, those same houses go for 300K, and rent for 1500/month. so, invest now if you dont want to work for the rest of your life. hell, my old man makes 18K a month for sitting on his ass off of a 268k apartment house investment in 1974. so, dont travel, party, or spoil yourself now with you own money, invest and let someone else pay for all of that and more in the future. just my 2 cents. (which will be worth 5 cents next week) ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
