highfly 0 #1 December 21, 2005 Hows about we have a secret santa for xmas 2006 for all the members that post on this site? Someone out there (HH maybe) could take all the users and put them into a randomizer (techincal term) which would give each user someone to give/ send a gift to. What do you reckon? Good Idea or not? www.myspace.com/durtymac
NWFlyer 2 #2 December 21, 2005 While the results could be very interesting, the logistics could get nightmarish."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
PsychoBob 0 #3 December 21, 2005 I think Kris Ann is right about the logistics but it might be worth a try. I think it would be fun at least."I'm not a gynecologist but I will take a look at it" RB #1295, Smokey Sister #1, HellFish #658, Dirty Sanchez #194, Muff Brothers #3834, POPS #9614, Orfun Foster-Parent?" highfly 0 #4 December 21, 2005 The best way to do it would be by having a membership of the secret Santa. The Santa would get an email telling them who the Santee is. This would detail their address which to send the gift to. That Santee becomes the Santa who recives an eamil ..................so on and on. This at least ensures that everyone on the membership is goingto recive something. When posting the gift out it should be done with a tracking number. This tracking number would be sent to the Santee so they could track their parcel. Make sense? We could then have a thread where we post all of our gifts. Each Santa could then comment on why they sent it out. www.myspace.com/durtymac
NWFlyer 2 #5 December 21, 2005 Well, if you're willing to run it, maybe we can go for it next year. If, for no other reason than to get to use the word "Santee" all the time. What about postage? Since this is an international site, that could vary significantly depending on who you got."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
highfly 0 #6 December 21, 2005 Well we would try and put a limit on what you spend inc packaging. So obviously if Im sending something to USA from NZ then we would match appropriatly. I wouoldnt mind running but I dont think HH would give me his data base www.myspace.com/durtymac
grue 1 #7 December 21, 2005 We do this on another forum I frequent, basically you sign up if you want to participate, a few people are put in charge of handing out Santas/Santees, etc, and it usually works out. There's like a 3 or 6 month ban if you don't get your stuff shipped on time though cavete terrae.
bbarnhouse 0 #8 December 21, 2005 I would prefer that HH set up donations to help feed the children that live at the sanitation dumps of Namibia. OR collect money for a literacy program. Those would be real gifts that make a difference.
SkydiveStMarys 0 #9 December 21, 2005 I think it would be cool. Maybe the present could be something specific from that region or area of the country you live in. I'm game! NlghtJumper 0 #10 December 21, 2005 You guys make the rulz and count me in. I dont mind the postage, but for military overseas post offices [APO, FPO, etc.], tracking numbers wont work. As soon as it leaves the states, the tracking number is worthless. Still a pretty cool idea thou! Giving cash to charities is difficult because there are so many out there. www.myspace.com/durtymac
