Serendipity

Recommended Posts

Ever get the feeling everything is connected? I love the desert - hence I love getting back to Eloy.

I also subscribe to an email service that deposits a bit of spiritual mail in your inbox every morning. Today's writing was, well - appropriate and maybe explains why I love the desert so much. I thought I'd share....

"COME AND LISTEN

THE DESERT sometimes issues its own invitation: "Come! Enter into my silence, my uncluttered solitude, my stark beauty, and I will show you the depths of your own soul you never knew you had. Come and listen to the Holy One who speaks within, tells you that you are loved, and clarifies your call to service. Come and find strength; let grace encompass you; let go of baggage; and wait simply for God."

Up until about a year and a half ago, I believed in fate and that it all works the way it should... but now, I don't really know. Sometimes it just doesn't.

In fact I thought that life was kind of in my control, like in Vanilla Skies.... but, I perfer to think that I have no control over the alternative that I'm just torturing myself with the twists and turns....

But I still want to believe in serendipity....
I hope Serendipity treats you well.

I've always felt that way about the mountains.

I love the feeling of complete calm and peace I find on backpacking trips to places few people go. It's easier to clear my mind of the clutter out there and to listen to what is really important.

The backcountry has helped me make some of the most important decisions of my life.

The desert is an amazing place. I have been lucky enough to row down the grand canyon several times. I love the contrast between the dry, arid landscape of the desert of the inner canyon and the life and power of the river. In the desert, energy seems to be in a raw form in abundance.

:P
Every person has their own place where they can sit, be quiet and breathe.
To connect with themselves and not worry about all the outside stuff.
For some it is the desert, the ocean, the mountains.
Some people can go to that place through meditation.

I am not very good at it yet, but I am trying hard to connect with my soul and leave everything else behind.

It is awesome that you can do that in the desert (or you were an arabian prince in a past life).

Re-connect with your soul!
Take it home.

:)

I think true friendship is under-rated

I know what to get you for Christmas now: your own Eloy Zen Garden for those times when you're wallowing in misery over how many women in NC are hot for you. :D

Man! That guy has the pretty girls LINING UP to stalk him! Thank goodness we're teammates and friends, so I can at least live vicariously through his women woes. B|

So, are you saying that being stalked by just the right person is not unwelcome? ;)

People often ask me how is it I can live in the desert in the middle of no where.
I feel as you do.
If one hasn't lived in this desert, they can not possibly understand the why of it. Rather like a whuffo asking why we jump. ;)
I am so with you on this one...even tho it may be the "bunghole of Arizona" I've seen some spectacualr things that can only be seen ..in this desert.:)Ever stand ontop of the fuel tank at sunset?:)
