SkydiveStMarys 0 #1 December 20, 2005 I'm having a neighborhood cocktail party (y'all are invited, of course) and was wondering what would be a good party drink to make (think in bulk). Something festive that everyone would consider trying. Yeah, there will be beer there and all that good stuff, just figured it would be cool to have something "christmasy" (is that a word?) Any ideas? Maybe some kind of coffee drink perhaps... BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.

NWFlyer 2 #3 December 20, 2005 Hot spiced cider! Heat it up on the stove, have some rum nearby; you can serve it spiked or unspiked depending on what people want. Edit: plus it makes the house smell really good."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Another great holiday drink is eggnog spiked with Captain Morgan's spiced rum, a nice after-dinner drink. But I have had the heated spiked cider at the DZ before... great on a cold day. Hambone 0 #12 December 20, 2005 Eggnog, but you have to make it pretty stout other wise everyone will end up full and not even buzzed. In my experience going with the cider is the best bet, you can get it in packets at the store and make it your self of you can get gallons of it. Stick it in a big BIG pot put it on the stove add rum and stir, then cover it and walk away. Its great, but it gets everything it touches sticky, but its a small price to pay for that christmasy goodness. Dougiefresh 0 #17 December 20, 2005 Hot chocolate with Bailey's. I've found the Ghiradelli powdered chocolate works really well. You can also try putting something minty in the hot chocolate. I think Bailey's and peppermint schnapps works really well.Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams
