Anyone else like looking at military bases with google earth?

Recommended Posts

the last couple night i'v been looking at Airforce bases to what i can see. last night i was looking at edwards and spoted the F-22 Raptor Hangers with several of the jets outside. Also an all white B-52 used for those test drops that NASA does. Not far away from that was a pair of SR-71 Blackbirds!! *droooooool*

This is just with crappy googleearth stuff i wonder what you can pick out with current SpySat images!!!!:o:o

There are a lot of soldiers upset with that being up. But I dont mind so much. I looked at my base that I am deployed to and not only were the pictures like 3 years old... but also I took out my GPS and found the coords are off. Not that the enemy would ever use it... but still

How far off were your gps readings?

I looked at Whitmore (sp?) where the B-2s are stationed a while back... you could only see the individual "carport" type hangars there, no planes exposed... but there were a lot of those single plane hangars... I wondered which had planes, which didn't... smart to keep it all hidden. It reminds me of Beale AFB when they used to have all the SR-71s there, they'd keep some individual hangar doors closed w/ planes in, some open w/ planes in, some open while empty, etc. so that it kept everyone guessing as to just how many SRs there were.

you can also look at the skunkworks and phantom works facilities in Palmdale and see some interesting things... I love it.

And Chris. And...

Remember to enable 'Google Earth Community' under the Layers menu on the left. Then everything that other people has seen pops up. All the Blackbirds in the world has been mapped, for example :)

I wonder if there is a satellite shot that shows a wingsuit BASE pilot in flight in Norway or Italy, anywhere else? That would be amazing luck.

"they do."----------------------------------------------------------Thanks for the link. I just looked in my driveway and flew straight into my uncles swimming pool 100 miles away afterwards. CoolB|__________________________________________________
