Ahhh, the good(bad?) old days of tunnel time for $25 per hour

Recommended Posts

One of my friends just told me all about Aerodium in Quebec in the old days -- supposedly the first VWT in North America in the late 1970's or something like that (or early 80's?).

He told me it cost him the 'expensive' cost of $25 per hour. And the big batsuits that were needed in order to fly in the airstream. Small airstream. And not all that stable. More of an amusement-park-style ride.

He and his school buddies would split an hour of for $25 and share the fun of the tunnel.

He's a non-skydiver, just FYI. Needlessly to say, he was surprised that doesn't even get him 2 minutes of tunnel time today. :S :D Mind you, today's windtunnels are much bigger, more stable, comfortable, skydiving realistic, and you can now fly in a birthday suit instead of a balloon suit.

We're going to Fla. this month and hope to be able to get some tunnel time. Gees 25 bucks, that would be sooo nice!

Ahh, but Beth...The only flight time you get is the tunnel doesn't qualify for a skydive. You have to leave from an airplane in flight to lose that whuffo status you still carry. Come on...if Dave can do it, you can. ;)

well Michael, you know how much time Dave and I spend together. We've had about 2 weeks together now, and I'm thinking by the time we climb on that plane in Minneapolis to head south, he's gonna toss me out! I think he grows a little tired of my independence
