Popcorn: the disappearing nutritional value

Recommended Posts

So I cooked up some popcorn tonight and made a startling discovery while waiting for the microwave. Popcorn loses nutritional value after you cook it. For example:

Uncooked Popcorn:
12g fat 16g carb 2g protein

Cooked popcorn (same proportion of the bag):
2.5g fat 4g carb 0.5g protein

Anybody have any idea why this happens?

Oh and who would eat raw popcorn anyway???

"Let the misinterpretation and attacks begin."

Hmmm. I am looking at the proportions. All cooked figures are 1/4 of uncooked figures.

Here's a suggestion: Is the meaure of the serving size "1 Cup?" If so, it takes a lot less cooked popcorn to make one cup than uncooked.

Maybe that has something to do with it.
