actually i got better b/c i was cuddling with my own rig.........thats in my room.........that i'm not waiting for..........wondering if its gonna get lost in the mail...........or be on that truck that catchs fire in the freeway...........or its gonna get made a couple inchs to short and won't fit right and then you have to send it back before you even put a jump on it.

no, no, no, that's ok, be that way, young one. you did your waiting too... only you were in better weather and it was more agonizing. it's cold here and there's no where to jump anyway, so i'm not missing out on much.

Well iffin you would have been readin' the Holiday Boogie thread
So what can I can I tell you? 80 degrees, people jumping in shorts and tee shirts in December, Omar lead a sunset tracking dive, Airspeed did a sunset formation load. Flew the DC3 and Airspeed organized a 20 way speed star. Yesterday we flew 30 Otter loads and 1 in the DC3. Not bad at all for a Christmas day.

I have to say that we do a pretty good job of keeping track of people and when folks land off it doesnt take long to retrieve them.
I saw early on that there was a person who was not going to make it back and appx.where the person was going to land. Burke was out with the van so I took my golf cart. WRONG!
To the North the desert this time of year turns to a fine powder and it would be easy for a golf cart to get stuck. Knowing this I was very careful picking my way along the canal. Well I generally am not bad at locating people when they land off, but I was having the darndest time finding this person! I drove the length of the canal all the way to the farm field, then worked my way back on the other side going a bit farther North. I really didn't think this person could have possibly landed that far, but I decided that I would look just the same. Now I've been out 10 minutes already and began to get a little worried...I didn't have any medical supplies with me and what if? I decided that I should stop and try to stand on the golf cart seat to see if I could see anything and lo and behold I spotted the lad and ummmmmm he was walking away from the DZ!!(now 15 minutes out looking) So I let out a big whistle and he turns around and heads toward me.
Seeing that the fella was unharmed you have to know I had a couple of questions
First I askd him how he managed to land off with jump run dropping pretty much over the DZ. He said...well I flew away from the DZ for awhile. (I'm thinking ummm hello?)
Second question was, well how is it that you are walking away from the DZ? His response was..well I thought if I just went to the road I could thumb a ride back! Ummmm HELLO? I wasn't even going there! So I just said to him...well next time you land off and decide to walk away from the DZ why don't you take off one of your socks, put it on a stick and wave it in the air so we can see you! Bwahhhhhh
Now...back to the dirt....no kidding there I was..in my cute little red pants and red short sleeve tee, red shoes all cheery and Christmasy. By the time I made it back to the Dz with our fine friend..I looked as though someone had knocked me off that little golf cart and rolled me around in the desert (which might have been ok under different circumstances) Simply put I was covered in dirt.
It required a quick shower and change of clothing not to mention a rinse for the little golf cart.
In the end, all I could do was find the comedy in it. I could have done without the teasing from Burke, but hey at least the guy has a sense of humor

The evening was a bit quiet with most of the locals celebrating at home. I ended up in the Bent Prop with F111,Skreamer (who isnt drinking!), Richard and Ash. We were having a nice conversation when I had to excuse myself to help someone with linens for their bunk.
On the way back I decided to go home, but got as far as the burn barrel. Wowza those people were having a good ole time! Drunk and singing Christmas Carols...seems a most fitting skydiver Christmas.

The 28th people are jumping with Airspeed and then the is the PMS jump as well.
I would imagine that we will work something up when Gasson gets here

Hey Pixie! Do you still happen to have them fine groundskeeper working on the DZ? These boys were great helping trim thorns off my canopy when that nasty bush ran towards my canopy on landing!
