There is a guy that lives by me with a silver one of those. I thought the same thing, get that laime pontiace out of the way. Then I listened and heard the exhaust and engine and noticed the GTO on it. I was like oh man that thing can kick some ass. However the guy driving it seems to have something wrong with his foot since he might as well be walking the rate he goes.

Sounds like you had a bad experience... none of the guys I run with regularly are like that. The guys who are like that are the ones who typically show up once thinking they're Michael Schumacher, and quickly realize that a.) They're not the only one with a high end sports car. and b.) They ARE the only one who doesn't have enough skill to keep up with the pack.

I like road racing because of the driver skill involved. Anyone can dump some money (and/or hard work) into building a car up to run fast in a straight line. It takes a lot more to build up a car that's fast in a straight line and pulls 1.5G in the corners... then get in the driver's seat and run it to the ragged edge for 50 laps or so without ending up another wall decoration.

I concur. The corwd we hung around with were very good natured. We would lend each other tools, spare parts and the drivers even loaned cars in one instance when my boss was chasing the championship and the other guy wasnt. But then my boss was the engine builder so maybe they thought hed repay the favour somehow!

I agree about Street Racing in Traffic or Neighborhoods.. Idiots that do that should be shot.

But Street Racing can be done safely (relatively Speaking.)

Closed Industrial Parks, Old Air Strips, Abandoned Shopping Mall are all Good Places for Street Racing.

Street Racing is Like the BASE of Auto Racing. Part of the Thrill is the Chance you could get caught.

But putting other People in Danger is Just Plain Stupid.

Wow someone is teste. I have not raced anyone for I don't know how long now, and even when I have raced someone on the street it was never in a residential area. That is pretty fucking retarded like you said.
I'm just saying someone with 450 horsepower who is backing traffic up has wasted his money if he does not intend to push the gas down. I didn't say I wanted to race him, rather for him to stop impeeding the flow of traffic. Which, in some cases, can actually kill innocent people as well.

I don't even bother with people at stop lights. I've got an 05 R1 and people always want to race. What's the point? I don't mean that in a bad way Darius, but where I live heads up I'll beat anything on 4 wheels off the light and all the way through the gears. There's just no thrill in racing if I know I'm going to win.

I much more prefer shutting down a street and running heads up with a few friends. I'm not a big fan of zipping in and out of traffic, to many hazards.

Every once in a while I'll have a Mustang come along side me and punch it a few times. I never stay by those people. I'll either shut it down (that throws them for a loop) or if it's open road I'll throttle it until the next light. Then if we hit a red at the next light I just shake my finger back and forth. It's funny more than thrilling.

My favorite trick to get rid of them is to start revving the engine and looking at the light pretending to be focused... then make a right turn as soon as the light changes.

not sure where in here is says he needs to be exceeding the speed limit to the point he would kill people. It says nothing of the sort. I am not back peddling. Like I said before, he is going so slow and backing a row of cars up behind him that it seems pretty pointless that he owns such a car. I think I'll go buy me a lamborghini and keep err under 55 because that is the speed limit. Certain cars are made with lots of horsepower to be driven, well to be driven. If numbnuts want to peddle around and look good he could have spent less money and bought something that looked just as COOL.

Yep.

Some groups of people shouldn't be allowed to drive. That group is one of those.

It's also ridiculous that ANYONE is allowed to drive a 6,000lb+ vehicle without taking a more in-depth license test than the pathetic one given to 16 year olds to prove that they're actually capable of driving a tank.
