lawrocket 3 #1 January 2, 2006 We're gettign some pretty decent rain here in the Central Valley. Car wrecks and things aplenty. Things seemed all right this morning as I headed in to the office. But, at 7:30 I got a call from my wife letting me know that our house was flooding. Upon arriving I discovered that it was only the master bedroom. I pulled out some sandbags and tried sealing up the exterior. Oops. I only had four. So off I went to get some more. Upon my return, the pool was almost overflowing and we had a nice little lake where out backyard is, and the lake was rising. I also discovered that the low point of our backyard is right adjacent to our house outside of the master bedroom. So I've got some carpet to clean and dry out, and if I'm lucky, I'll have to redo the drywall, dry out the framing and probably disinfect it to keep out bad guys like stachybotrys and campilobacter. Oh, isn't home ownership fun? I did what I could, but now it's time to wait and see. I'll have to see how to go about relandscaping and building in some drainage. This is the sucky part of home ownership. It's our problem, and a $5k deductible. My wife is hotter than your wife.

You'll have to ask Milli or Vanilli that one. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?
Michele 1 #4 January 2, 2006 I'm considerably south of you, Jerry, but we've gotten our share here this morning as well. Power was out, the rain was heavy (a worm was found on my 2 foot high porch...I suspect the wind blew it up there...), and a wind gust of 96 mph was clocked about 15 miles away from me. Nasty, nasty, nasty. At least I'm not dealing with indoor flooding...best to you! ltdiver 3 #6 January 2, 2006 Man! Wish I was back in Eloy with the 70 degree sunny weather and all! I drove home to SoCal last night (especially so I wouldn't have to drive in the rain. I knew it was supposed to come today). No rain at all yesterday or this morning here....but boy howdy it's coming down now! cocheese, go apologize to God! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

We used to go down and watch them put the floats together in days previous to the parade (my mom used to help with the decorating when she was a kid). I was listening to Raul Rodriguez, one of the float designers in an interview. He designs and makes about 20 of the floats each year. He was preparing for the rain this year by buying rain ponchos for his crew to wear today. Good guy. Encore broadcast coming on now. Guess I'll get to see the parade anyway! :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

lawrocket 3 #10 January 2, 2006 I used to help with decorating the float back when I was in High School. I guess it hadda happen sometime. The Rose Parade hasn't gotten rained on since 1955. So, rain every 50 years isn't such a bad record. My wife is hotter than your wife.

Bet people in and at today's parade would wish they had one! It's called an "Otter Box". That rain was -really- coming down!! http://www.otterbox.com/products/ipod_cases/ ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
