boinky 0 #1 January 3, 2006 Goes up on January 8, 2006. It is increasing 2 cents. If you're sitting on a whole bunch of 37 cent stamps, like I am...they are selling 1 and 2 cent stamps. QuoteTWO BY TWO. With new postage rates and fees taking effect Jan. 8, Post Offices are stocking up on 1- and 2-cent denomination stamps for customers to use with 37-cent First Class stamps they have on hand. More than 2.5 billion 2-cent stamps were produced, so customers can be assured we won’t be running out. You also can get penny and two-penny stamps — as well as new First-Class stamps — at The Postal Store on USPS.com. Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? (RIP Buzz) Yep, you're a postwhore-billyvance
Broke 0 #2 January 3, 2006 I now need to mail a letter using only 1 and 2 cent stamps... I have found a new gaol in life. What wants a letterDivot your source for all things Hillbilly. Anvil Brother 84 SCR 14192
azureriders 0 #3 January 3, 2006 I remember when stamps went up to 24cents and the PO had a coin machine that would give you a 24 and a 1cent stamp for every quarter you fed it. Most people would take the 24 and leave the 1 hanging there. So I thought it was my duty to make sure these did not go to waste, I can't tell you how many letters I have mailed with 24 one cent stamps on them. Looks like this may be the case again for the new 39cent stamps. Why else would they be printing 1 and 2 cent stamps for a 2cent increase. Will 39 one cent stamps fit on a standard envelope?????? jceman 1 #5 January 3, 2006 Did you see the underlying reason for the price increase? The USPS has been charged by Congress to provide their share of funding for Vereran's programs; in order to maintiain their working margin (read "profit"), the Postmaster General ordered the increase, with the vast majority of the increased revenues to go towards vet benefits. This is one postal rate increase I can and do support with all my enthusiasm. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them? noblesmelissa 0 #6 January 3, 2006 Damn! That makes me really mad considering today at the grocery store the check-out lady asked me "do you need to buy ice or stamps today?" and I said "oh, sure, give me a book of stamps." Stupid 37 cent stamps that I can't even mail a letter with now...

mx757 4 #9 January 4, 2006 yea and why do we need USPS sponsering "one nut" Armstrong and his team on tour defrance? the USPS wastes millions of $$$ why do we need mail service 6 days a week? every other day would be ok... there's FedEx for the important letters.. USPS uses FedEx any way to deliver their overnight mail to them any way... Post Office is run by bunch of idiots and they are way over paided.
markd_nscr986 0 #10 January 4, 2006 Just my 2 cents worth (no pun intended) They should raise the rate to 50 cents which should be good for more than a few years...... This would accomplish several things....... It would give the USPS a budget surplus which they could invest in infrastructure, improving efficiencies......lowering their per letter rate even more.........increasing their budget surplus.......forestalling any future increases for a good while.......Marc SCR 6046 SCS 3004
elizfowler 0 #11 January 4, 2006 Yep....that's us too. Almost a whole roll of (100) stamps and we now have to fork out MORE $$$ !! Guess we'll be doing more payments online and stuff that helps us cut down on the postage! E & F
