What is Burt Rutan up to now?

hmm... I think you're right... see pic, taken from flick. I vaguely recall the movie, I think those large rotors would lock once in flight and the helo would transition from rotorcraft to fixed wing aircraft. interesting.

I miss Lee.

Never saw the movie, but those dudes must have had some imagination.

In the movie pic the heli appears to have skis instead of wheels. No telling what they may have used those for. :ph34r:

NASA worked on one of these for quite some time. They couldn't get the transition from rotorcraft to fixed-wing to work quite right. Some links:
