Evelyn 0 #1 January 4, 2006 I hardly ever cook dinner, usually for me it's a protein bar at the gym in between workouts, and my husband just eats whatever is for happy hour at the club. But made a NY resolution to cook more, so tonight for dinner is crab/shrimp enchilidas with rice/beans and salad. So what are you having? Broke 0 #2 January 4, 2006 Hmm yummy. I am having leftover ham and stuffing, because I had to throw something together before getting to work today due to the fact the cafeteria personnel wouldn't be getting in due to weather. 40 mph winds... no one jumping today hereDivot your source for all things Hillbilly. NWFlyer 2 #3 January 4, 2006 So far it's not looking good. A package of M&Ms as I wait in the airport in Phoenix to find out if they're going to fix the lavatories (yes, ALL THREE of them on my plane back to Seattle are broken.) But... I did get two awesome slow-cooker cookbooks for Christmas that I'm *really* looking forward to using. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. AggieDave 6 #4 January 4, 2006 Morgan cooked us a really good chicken and pasta dish. She has this 4-step cook book that she likes using and the meals are usually very good too. We trade back and forth with the cooking, its fun and we enjoy cooking for each other.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Evelyn 0 #9 January 4, 2006 QuotePasta with Alfredo sauce over brazed boneless chicken breast. I will have to see what bottle of wine I want to open with it. You probably will want to do a white wine, maybe a chardonnay or pinot grigio. Damn Jeanne I missed you! The boogie was awesome, but wasn't the same without you . AggieDave 6 #10 January 4, 2006 Even though you're "supposed" to have a white wine with that mean, I tend to have a Shiraz with alfredo sauce, pasta and chicken...but I prefer red over white.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Evelyn 0 #11 January 4, 2006 Yeah, my husband prefers reds and will have a shiraz or Merlot even with chicken dishes. Think it is whatever you prefer, not what is supposed to be proper. BTW, Aggie Dave loved meeting you at Eloy and especially loved meeting your beautiful wife and jumping with her for the Airspeed Day. We totally rocked !!! lawrocket 3 #15 January 4, 2006 I'm starting with a salad consisting of one leaf of Romaine lettuce lightly seasoned with a quart of aioli. The main course will consist of IItalian food, some meat filled ravioli. Some fried pomme frites seasoned with a dried mixture of salt, mesquite and sweetener (Ruffles KC Masterpiece Chips) will operate as a fine crispy side dish to accent the al dente characyeristics exemplified by Chef Boyardee ravioli. To drink will be drafts Firestone Double Barrel Ale (numbering five or six). For dessert, I am going with a no-sugar-added fruti sorbet since I'm conscious of my diet this new year. As an added challenge, I will be eating all of the above (even the beer) with out the use of fingers. A fellow poster deemed the use of fingers to be barbaric, and such fine cuisine as that at offered at Chez Lawrocket deserves advanced utensils, including but not limited to a wide-mouth straw for the bubbly beverage. skymama 37 #16 January 4, 2006 I hate to admit this, but we had Tuna Helper and peas tonight. I had very little time to cook in between work and a soccer game and the kids actually love it. To redeem myself, I did make a very nice pork roast, au gratin potatoes and green beans last night and we'll have salmon tomorrow. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
