jumpergirl 0 #28 January 6, 2006 I had to take the ASVAB in high school and did well on it (I guess). I was hounded for at least a year by the Army and Marines. I finally had to tell them I have asthma and a bad knee and they quit calling. I didn't realize that was all it would take or I would have done it sooner. The surest way to get a recruiter to leave you alone is to tell him that you've been accepted to a service academy. Telling them you've already enlisted in something else can also work, so long as the two recruiters don't share office space.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
jumpergirl 0 #30 January 6, 2006 Ahhh... good to know. I'll pass that along to my girl friend. Her son is 15. She might want that tidbit in a few years.

At the risk of sending this to SC, I would think the surest way would be to tell the recruiter you're gay."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

I think it's super cool and hope you find your grandfather's poster.
 Broke 0 #34 January 6, 2006 Quote I bet you're right. I've emailed it to a few people (including, you, NIghtJumper) in the hopes that someone can help. Any more suggestions? I have called the local recruiter's office, the recruiter's office in PA where he was stationed, the Marine Archives Department, and several other places. I have it all in a notebook in my truck. I started this project 5 years ago, and gave up after a while. This time, I am determined to find it. I wish my grandmother was a little more understanding and would tell me if she has one or not. I can't even find out if she has one that I can get my hands on when she passes. It seems that it will be easier searching the long way, like this, than getting it from her, if she even has it. Thanks again for everyone's help! It means alot to me and I appreciate every single suggestion/hint/link/offer.
