Back to School after a layoff?

Recommended Posts

I took some time off, I've been back for a semester now. Its tough at times, I work full time and Im in nursing school. My advise is but yourself on a schedule, try to work the same days/hours every week and budget your time. find out what works for you and stick to it. good luck, education is the key to a better life.

I was a much better student the second time around (graduate school). I'd worked full-time for three years so I was able to approach grad school like a job - I was at school either in class or studying for most of the day (when I was an undergrad, I would only go to class during the day ... never bothered to study before the evening).

went back 3 years after leaving undergrad school, to finish upper div comp sci & math courses ... I was a much better student the second time through.

It was all about grades & learning the second time around. I nailed the easy courses (even when boring), and put out the effort necessary for the harder ones. I was working construction before starting classes, but it only took a few weeks to get into the whole reading-writing thing again. Easily the best use of money and time I've ever spent was to finish up the degree.

You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two.
