AlexCrowley 0 #1 January 7, 2006 So, Im taking the wife to Eloy for her AFF. I'm assuming others have made the pilgrimage before. Best airline? Best flight? Best way to get to Eloy once you get there? Best hotel to use when there? Look. a serious post. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking. matthewcline 0 #2 January 7, 2006 Airlines are airlines, just put the extra dime in and take her first class. After all your going first class in her training. If you want to really have fun at Eloy (no end of day commute and driving after a drink!) get a team room and immerse your self in the scene. Call manifest for a good hotel listing though, if private showers are the standard for her. I didn't see any thing "right next door", but I wasn't looking either. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! bbarnhouse 0 #3 January 7, 2006 QuoteBest way to get to Eloy once you get there? Eloy is located 1/2 way between Phoenix and Tucson. The flights into PHX tend to be less expensive, but the driving time is the same (about 45 mintues). You'll find driving directions here The best hotel is actually Francisco Grande Resort you can find hotel information here I will tell you that there are no accommodations available on the DZ until April. micro 0 #5 January 7, 2006 QuoteThanks :) We'd intended to stay offsite. First off, I'm still in a massive state of shock that you've posted anything serious. Second, are you still bent on this trip being in February? I'm still considering it but the dates you gave me just might be too early. I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And... Remster 30 #6 January 7, 2006 What? My PMs werent good enough? Depending how much you want to spend Motel 6 = Super 8 < Best Western in Casa Grande < That place Betsy mentioned (apparently, the MOtel 6 is a bit more noisy then it used to) It goes from cheat to less cheap, and from OK to nice. If you do lots of jumping, a place closer and still OK will be just as good as you`ll be tired to enjoy a resort. That being said, if you stay a week, you can spend 5 days close to the DZ and then stay for 1 or 2 nights at a reosrt in Phoenix or Tucson. Rent a car. Dollar is usually unbeatable.Remster
NWFlyer 2 #7 January 7, 2006 Stayed at the Motel 6 in Casa Grande. It was okay on the clean/quiet scale... if you're not too picky, that is. Oh, and if you don't mind having to get your keys recoded every night since they tend to stop working if you even look at them funny. . mailin 0 #9 January 7, 2006 I know your in the Boston metro area, so I'm sure you'll fly out of Logan, but you can get non-stop from Providence (far better for travel convenience IMO, even when I lived in Foxboro) to Pheonix on Southwest - I think we paid about $200 pp/roundtrip. AlexCrowley 0 #12 January 7, 2006 The PMs were great, I was actually more wondering about physically getting out there and whether anyone had done a package thing or whatever. The stuff you sent handles once I'm there, it's trying to avoid 20 layovers and 15 hours of flights that is the point of this post. And It looks like mailin figured that part out. AlexCrowley 0 #13 January 7, 2006 Yes, thank you for that. I can watch people who annoy me die using the same philosophy, but a sharp blade is so much more efficient and satisfying. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
AlexCrowley 0 #14 January 7, 2006 Dont worry, I've already managed to screw it upWhy dont you just let me know when's good for you and I'll book my vacation at your convenience. Right now things are very flexible. Sooner the better, but if later in February increases chances of shared beer then I'm all for it. Other special guests are on the bill. Card subject to change. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.

Elisha 1 #22 January 7, 2006 Interesting. As cheap as Motel 6 sounds, it usually is bearable, while I remember those Red Roof commercials with Martin Mull making the place sound rather decent for the price.
RevJim 0 #23 January 7, 2006 October 1997. Honeymoon. 4 nights in 4 states. Night 1. Howard Johnsons, Toledo, Ohio. Very clean, well kept room. Right down to crisp feeling sheets. Night 2. Motel 6, Alexandria, Virginia. on par with Howard Johnsons from the night before. Night 3. Bally's. Atlantic City, New Jersey. It's Ballys. It's Atlantic City. Of course it was nice! Night 4. Red Roof Inn, Buffalo (a southwest burb, actually), New York. Dirty sheets (stained), roaches IN the shower, damp carpeting, and since we checked in at 2 a.m. (On our way to Niagra), actually more expensive than Ballys. 1, 2, and 3? Anytime again. 4? Never. Again. Period. One bad apple spoils the barrel, and that is hands down the worst apple I've seen. It's your life, live it!
