beowulf 1 #6 January 5, 2006 Death scares me, yet fascinates me also. I don't want to die, but being close to death does excite me. I once thought without any doubt that I was going to die a very slow and painful death. I remember thinking that I didn't want to die because I had a lot more things still left to do. But hey I got lucky and didn't die. But I was partially right it was very painful and slow.

I personally DO fear death, and I'm not ashamed. Maybe it's b/c I have some regrets in my life. I know part of it comes from what I'll miss -and what my kids will miss- when I'm gone. I don't want to miss my kids getting married, having their own kids, etc. I believe in an afterlife, the "destination" of which is contingent on how I live my life here. I haven't always been a very good person. I still sometimes am not a very good person. So what will become of me after death? I don't know. But I have hope, and a reasonable amount of fear. I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
NlghtJumper 0 #8 January 5, 2006 Quote If death didn't scare you, then it's proximity wouldn't excite you. Not really. The way I see it, the closer I can get to death, and fly by the seat of my pants leaving un-harmed, the more fun it is. Plus, it makes for great stories later of those who were with me, screaming their heads off! lawrocket 3 #10 January 5, 2006 I the last two years, I have a new fear of death. And it's for selfish reasons. I want to see my son grow up. I want to give him siblings and see them grow up. Death will always be there, ready for me. But life won't be. That means I should take this opportunity at life and do the best with it. Sure, I'll have fun and take risks, but those risks are managed risks, and if something doesn't seem worth it, I won't take it. Some want to die young and gloriously. Not me. I like my time, and I like life. I've had a pretty sucky 2006, but it sure could be worse. And I want all the time that heaven will allow me on this earth, because I've got so much to do. Yeah, I'm scared. And I like being afraid. It gives me a rush of adrenaline. Maybe that's why I'm so happy right now. My wife is hotter than your wife. colinl 0 #12 January 5, 2006 I don't think I fear death, but I'd rather have it come the latest possible. I have planned to do many, many more things in my life and would like to do them. Ragnarok 0 #16 January 5, 2006 I have seen alot of death. More than I ever wanted to. Can't say I am not scared of death, apprehensive maybe a better description. Seeing it the way I have, I know that I don't want to suffer for too long. Life is too short to play it safe, but I am not going to be stupid about it, either._________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
philip2005 0 #17 January 5, 2006 It doesnt scare me because i cant imagine what its like. I have to think really hard about it (which i dont do very often) to realise what it actually means. Whatever happens i will die eventually, but it can't imagine it happening so it really doesnt bother me. I still want to avoid it for as long as possible because im happy with this life and i want it to last.

Imagine the sadness and grief you feel at the loss of a loved one. Now multiply that by the loss of everyone and everything dear to you. That is the grieving process a dying person goes through. I'm with Ragnarok on this one. A quick death is the way to go. Walt

Darius11 12 #24 January 5, 2006 I have no fear of death and never have even as a kid, and being close to death has always made me feel alive and excited. I don’t think the excitement is about fear for me it’s about getting close to the other side and meeting my maker.
