Well, this is just freakin' great . . .

See what you can find out about your school's add/drop policy. I know when I was in school, I'd get into at least half my classes by showing up the first week and taking spots of people who dropped out.

Hey, at least the school you're going to doesn't want to charge you non-resident tuition when you really do live there.

The school I've registered at says I'm not a California resident, even though I've spent all but 12 months of my 40 years living here, the 12 months I didn't live here ended over a year ago and I've never had a driver's license in any other state.

I wish I could afford to pay $1600+ in tuition for 9 units at a junior college. :S

Kelly,
What school are you going to and what is your program? Sometimes the requirments are flexible and you can take 'elective' courses so to speak.

Good luck either way. I'm glad you're back in the south. We'll have to get together for grits and hushpuppies soon:)

Mmmmmm, yummy. ;)

I'm going to Kennesaw and trying to get into the nursing program. The requirements are extremely rigid, and I'm only missing a few classes that I need (mostly science, since business majors need to know nothing about science.) :D

I'm sure I can get them during drop/add. And since I'll be working during the times it's going on, I'm gonna enlist my mom and my BF to try to get my classes for me (with very explicit directions as to course numbers, et al). I'm typing the directions right now.

Oh, my goodness, that would rock! I think I'm gonna ask for one of my jobs off next week, so I can go and plead my case to all the classes I want. It should be easier for the big lecture classes . . . although they all might be big lecture classes, which would be even better.

Thanks for the tip!

>Every class I need BUT ONE is closed for Spring semester

go to the class, talk to the prof ... someone ALWAYS drops the last day or two possible. This never failed to get me into a class I needed. ;)

You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two.

The Baccalaureate or the Masters?

Which science courses do you need? Don't forget that you can be a transient student at any other school (technical school, community college, 2yr, etc. ) for a semester. It's a great cheap option for some science classes that are hard to get into (have to drop/add), too large, or just not good instructors that give low grades.

Keep it in mind if drop/add doesn't work :)

BSN.

I need Chem 1151 and 1152, Anatomy and Phys 1 and 2, Sociology 2105, 2 Psyc courses and Microbiology.

Very nice. Most, if not all, of these courses are offered at smaller institutions and are transferable into Kennesaw State. Is the Sociology 2105 for Area B? If so you have other options in that area of the General Education curriculum.

In the nursing program they require 1 psyc. http://www.kennesaw.edu/academicaffairs/acadpubs/acadpub/ucat2005-06/o.hhs.pdf
Is the other for Area B as well?

Check out this website to find out about other schools where you could get some of these courses out of the way.

Sorry, can you tell I'm an academic advisor who likes my students to know about ALL of their options? LOL!

LOL. Yes, I can. But I actually spoke to the nursing school advisor, and she didn't say anything about Area A or Area B stuff. They have 12 prerequisites, 5 of which I got out of the way in my first go-round. I just need that Soci to get an additional A, so I can get INTO the program.

I'll start checking out those other schools for next semester, though, in case I need them.
