Reserve Wingloading (updated)

Recommended Posts

I did a search but the posts I found were from 2002. I think things have changed since then so I'm doing this again. (poll is in lbs/ft^2)

What is your reserve wing loading?

What reserve (and size) canopy is it?

edit to state: Hmm... should this have gone in the gear and rigging forum?

My reserves are 181 Raven 1, 176 PD-R , 200 Maverick..... I weigh 215 lsb out of the door. 176 is as low as I go, I want something to put my sorry ass somewhat gently (meaning, no more than 4 broken bones, if that's possible)

well, you have over 1300 jumps by your profile. that accounts for something.

how many times have you jumped it?

at some point it comes down to personal responsibility, doesn't it. if you think you are being responsible, well there ya go.

no flaming from me.

I miss Lee.
And JP.
And Chris. And...

Depending on how much weight I have on:
PD143R 1.25
Airforce 160 1.12

PDR flew great, I was very impressed - so much so I'd fly this as my main. The Airforce is an Australian made reserve reinforced with Kevlar tape, not as much fun to fly but strong as all phuck and landed nicely. I was dumb enough to open it at terminal too ;-)

None of my mains are loaded above 1.4. In all honesty my reserves where determined by the previous owner, they made pretty good decisions.

1.5 on a Tempo 120. Have a couple jumps on it. Thought the controls were a bit mushy and I slid in both times, but it still got me down safely.

1.64:1 on my Raven r-Max in my Infinity 2.0... flown twice.. first time at Jumptown during a speed competition... stood it up in the chipped bark pit.. and once at Lost Prairie butt slid that one.. just cause I did not want to try to stand it up... up there in the mountains:)
1.76 to 1 on my PD reserve in Infinity 3.0 I have yet to get to fly that one.

140 out the door w/o weights. I wear anywhere from 6-12 pounds according to where I am.

I have a PD126r and a PD113r. The 126 flies with a 135 that I try to jump when I have heavy weights and the 113 is with a 120 that I fly more when I'm wearing lower weights.
