Travel Warnings are issued when the State Department recommends that Americans avoid a certain country. The countries listed below are currently on that list. In addition to this list, the State Department issues Consular Information Sheets for every country of the world with information on such matters as the health conditions, crime, unusual currency or entry requirements, any areas of instability, and the location of the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate in the subject country. Amanda965 0 #8 January 10, 2006 Does it list why? I am just wondering why Kenya is on there? That is a frequently travelled tourist spot. It may be there and I did not see if, but I was surprised that Egypt is not there. I thought it was dangerous. I will go somewhere with you not in the middle east. That is an area I really have no interest in traveling to right now.Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

nate_1979 9 #12 January 10, 2006 Australia should be on that list, I have friends who have gone there and a couple of them come back married, ... sheesh, talk about a way to damage your life in a hard core way! ... Flygurl 0 #13 January 10, 2006 Quote Why is North Korea not on that list? The travel advisory list contains warnings for countries that are: a. openly hostile toward American citizens b. in civil unrest c. have an elevated risk of crime against Americans North Korea is not on the list because they do not have a direct issue with American citizens. As long as you apply for a visa through China to enter N. Korea, you will not be under threat from either the govenment or its people. The same goes for Cuba, Myanmar, China and other police state govenments.
