Darius11 12 #1 January 10, 2006 Just had to say holy shit. I have not test drived this car but if the stats are true this is an insane car.Just wondering if any of you have or test drove one. Just curious.I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain

Darius11 12 #4 January 10, 2006 I have never owned an SUV my self I like taking corners more then anything but there is a whole market out there that just want to go straightIt's faster then a 911 0-60 is estimated under 5. If I had kids and had to buy an SUV and had the $$$ I would get this monster. We have some serios cars with lots of power coming out of the US. I think that rocks. I am so sick of the borring cars we have been making.I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
hexadecimal 0 #5 January 10, 2006 What many people buying "fast SUVs" fail to realize is that it takes a lot more to stop a 6,000+LB vehicle than it does a typical car. As for the new cars in the US... they're still pretty much the same old boring thing. Cheap parts, jello-like chassis, and heavy, underengineered V8s that get about 1/4 the HP per liter when compared to the Japs and Germans. American car "enthusiasts" need to stop accepting the fact that American manufacturers consider 4,000+lbs "light weight" and start putting pressure on them to build some cars that can do a lot more than go fast in a straight line. The only respectable cars currently produced by mainstream US manufacturers are the new Corvettes (the coupes, not the convertibles) and the Ford GT (which isn't without it's problems and shortcomings). shropshire 0 #6 January 10, 2006 Landrover have done a similar thing with the Range Rover Sport (starting at $52k over there).... I just cann't see why.... If you want a 4x4... get a 4x4. If you want a hot road car get one.... but some bastardised hybrid.... WTF? (.)Y(.) Broke 0 #7 January 10, 2006 Give me 52k and i can build you a kick ass off road vehicle. You want a hemi in it no problem, but that will take away from other things.Divot your source for all things Hillbilly. Anvil Brother 84 SCR 14192

Darius11 12 #9 January 10, 2006 Well you might be right if all we measured was engine performance but Value is a big part of a car purchase. If I was to buy an import and was looking for the same goodies my car has I would have to spend about 15-25K more then I did. So yes Lotus and Ferrari make cars that produce 100HP per liter but I would rather by a house then spend 250+k on a car. And the Japanese car market is having trouble making more then 300HP for their engines. I am aware of the models that are not yet available in the us like the skyline but the starting price for that car is around 50K maybe higher if I remember correctly Bottom line Bang for the buck American cars rule of course if you live in America where you still don’t have to mortgage your house to buy gas like you might have to in most of Europe.I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain

hexadecimal 0 #11 January 11, 2006 QuoteBottom line Bang for the buck American cars rule That's not true at all... and I was talking about all around performance, not engine performance alone. Immediately I can think of 2 examples of bang for your buck that would destroy everything coming from the American manufacturers in terms of price/performance. To make the deal even better, you can actually use these cars all year round, drive them on a road course (and be competitive), and modify them to be extremely fast 1/4 mile cars if that's your thing. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedan/112_0410_evowrx/index9.html

Darius11 12 #14 January 11, 2006 Dude that was one of the cars I test-drove. Great cars more money then I spent as the STI was around 33K. But great cars. If you really like to drive and I mean drive not just floor the gas you don’t want an all wheel drive car. You want power to rear wheels. But all in all there great cars just not my thing. The 4-cylinder turbo is cool and all but there is nothing like torqueI'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain

Not if you're into rally driving and ice racing. I personally prefer RWD... but try telling a rally driver that they don't really want to drive because they aren't using RWD cars.
