Dodge Challenger retro car

Recommended Posts

They are always talking about the "value" of a car....
whether it is the "value" that you are willing to pay because of either this or that, and then taking into consideration the "value" that you would receive back by reselling it. Most times it doesn't always equal out.

If you have all of the paper work, from day one, including the sticker that was stuck on the wind shield of the car from the show room, that in itself brings even more $ to the table. Ever detail of a classic car, much like an airplane has to be documented.

There was a car on the show that had only 300 and some odd miles on the orignal engine and the car was well over thirty years old. Incredible! brought a heafty price tag too.

...but I do laugh at people who think that performance only involves straight line speed.

I totally agree. Hearing people talk about muscle cars being "performance" cars is funny.
Not as funny as hearing someone say their harley had "awesome performance and handling" though

True. That one had ALL the paperwork. Is kinda impressive. They do that on homes too. A home in center-city phili gets 1/2 more value because of recordings - dating back to like 1700s. Lets face it though, a car fails to have rich historical significance other than going right back into a chevy factory in 1950. Not like Ben Franklin could have taken it to a drive-in or something. These cars are getting double value for papers. ?? That is overboard imho. I guess value is always in the eye of the beholder. The guy that bought it, spent almost $100000; smiling from ear-to-ear too...like it was a bargain.

Ever see the 're make' of that movie??

Came out a few years ago...went straight to video...
Slightly updated...but NO WHERE NEAR as good as the original!!!

I never could bring myself to watch it. I heard it was horrible.

Yeah...it was pretty bad!

I saw it staying at a buddy's place out of state...he had " Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry " along with both Vanishing Points...We had a long LOUD night in front of the tube!;)

That's fucking awesome. It pulls much harder at my heart strings than the new Mustangs.

FWIW, I owned a 1968 Camaro Z-28 for about eight years that I constantly regret selling (for a loss of course). Did you know you can now purchase a "new" 1969 Camaro? Chevrolet just authorized the stampings of the unibody. You have always been able to purchase the rest of the outside body parts.

That is sweet... and with a HEMI... I mean if you want a performance car put in a performance engine...B|

I never did get a Cuda or a Challenger.. I had to settle for a 1970 Superbird bought in 1974 for $1400 after a local guys wife said the car had to go... their 16 year old daughter had taken it out for a drive. It had that little 426 HEMI in it... oh what a ride. I wish I still had it..... I have seen it on the road here in WA severl times.. it was faily unique.:)

My buddy had the 426 hemi ragtop. Rolled it and died. It was absolute monster. Another buddy had the 440 6-pack, not as quick and drank gas. When I turned over that motor, you'd think a Titan rocket was leaving.

You could put a $20 bill on the dash and the passenger can't touch it, that's acceleration. :)
I used to hear people with Toyotas who went to the auto-cross pylon races in a parking lot. "We went through some pylons today and it was fun, but we got beaten by the Volkswagens". It sounded like some kind of apology.

Doing 130 down a 3 mile road was a lot better than doing 25 and pulling Gs on a curve.

I'll say...I think there were only about 500 made, to qualify for the track as a 'production' unit...

My cousin in LA has one...bought it new, and NEVER lets anyone else drive it EVER![:/]

What's with the whole hemi craze lately?

Most of the people I meet who think that a hemi automatically makes a car the fastest thing on the road don't even know what "hemi" means.

It's also worth mentioning that if you were really trying to build a performance car, you'd want to keep the weight down. I'd be willing to bet this thing will weigh at least 3,800lbs.

Hey guys,
I'm not into cars, but my husband is, he's a car broker, people tell him what car they want and he finds it for the best deal. If he keeps selling cars I keep skydivingl So please call my husband 818-636-5023. He is really a great guy, probably one of the last honest car salesmen.

Not with the described carbon fiber body!

In this link, which was posted earlier in this thread... it quotes the weight as 4,100lbs.

http://www.allpar.com/cars/dodge/challenger.html

Also, I guarantee you that the carbon fiber body will not be on the production version of this car. If it was, you could count on the MSRP being a LOT higher than $35k.

That said, if the 4,100lb weight was for the carbon fiber bodied concept, the production version will be even heavier.
