Does anyone out there work for them? Or have experience with warranty companies and their lousy business practices?
My next step is the BBB. If we get to that point I will also post a warning not to do business with them explaining our situation in more in detail.
Any help would be appreciated..

I've had American Home Shield for seven years now, and they've been good to me. They've paid for far more in repairs to my home, than I've paid in annual fees, which run about $400. For that, I've had new air conditioning and heat installed, some kitchen appliances repaired, plumbing, and such.

Ordinarily, I would opt out. But due to the age of the A/C when I purchased my home--doing the math, figured it would be worth it (and the seller paid for the first year anyways).

I can second John's American Home Shield recommendation.

Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Overall I think the concept is great, its this company that I am having problems with.
At least one of the "American" warranty companies are doing the right thing, not 1st American though, or the companies they use.

Yep, that's the key. I bought my present home when it was 23 years old, still with all it's original equipment. So I just knew that all that stuff was going to be dying real soon. And a lot of it did. I got thousands of dollars of HVAC upgrades, for virtually nothing.
