Angel Knot
Purlisk

I am sure there are a lot more that I know how to tie just can't rember them. I used to rock climb when I was younger, and I was practicing knots for Fire fighter 1, as well as confined space rescue.

I know a whole load of knotts, I'm ex NAVY and we had to learn heaps, also I'm an abseiler and Cliff rescue trained so more knots there, and a little Macrame to boot:)I love playing with ropes and just mucking about making knots and patterns, then undoing it all and starting again:):D:D
You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky)

Not weird at all! I have something like 10 or so books about knots.

Any of you have the king of all of them -- The Ashley Book of Knots? I'm lucky: my brother bought it for me as a birthday gift a few years ago. :)

Yeah, messing around with knots is a lot of fun. That's why I always have a piece or two of spare 550 cord in my pocket -- just to be able to play whenever I'm bored.

Very few. But I'm great with duct tape and neckties.

How about silk scarves, sweetie? :)

And do you know how to double-lock handcuffs?

I'll bet you have the kind with a hinge instead of a chain, 'cause you're that serious! :D

Just one. That's all it only takes to tie someone's hands to a headboard.:)>:(

It's really too bad that Cali is too far to drive in a weekend.

Happy birthday, even if this is the wrong thread.

There has never been a knot tied to my wrist , and connected to a headboard that if DESIRED could not be disconnected

desired being the key word....

edit to add, only the word desired was to be bold, however I cant figure out how to only make that bold.... [:/]

[I]fixed it for ya!
Sudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this

Ah, knots. There are hundreds, but if you know about a dozen you can do almost anything with a rope.

The square knot has probably been responsible for more grief than all other knots put together. It just isn't a very good knot, especially when used as a bend. If you must use a knot like this a surgeon's knot is a much better choice.

The bowline is almost infinitely adaptable. You can do a lot with it.

Prusik knots actually work; that's just bizarre. They don't look like they should work, but they're invaluable when you are rigging something that you want to hoist or to adjust later. You can use two pieces of 6mm cord to climb any rope with these knots. Munter hitches are a little less bizarre but are still a suprisingly simple way to rappel, even though they look all wrong.

The Carrick bend is an almost foolproof way to connect two ropes. The water knot is simpler and almost as good.

The clove hitch is pretty useful in sailing and rigging whenever you need to attach a rope to a pole (or other large object.)
