waltappel 1 #1 January 19, 2006 My absolute favorite television network, Fox, has tried to hit a new low with "Skating with Celebrities", a show where they have teamed up some celebrities ranging from kind of dorky to pretty impressive with some pro figure skaters. It's an elimination competition. It sounds like a great idea for a new low. Get some "has been" celebrities who can't skate and put them in a competition involving an activity that is truly painful to watch. I hate to admit it, but the celebrities are actually kind of impressive. They've got some serious balls trying that stuff and they are actually doing ok. edited to add: Even though Fox hasn't achieved a new low, I might have by watching it. squink 0 #3 January 19, 2006 I am SO impressed with Bruce Jenner right now. He is like 800 years old and he was workin it on the ice. Especially since his "starting out" video was crap. He was falling all over the place. So, the show idea is pretty dumb, but now I must root for Bruce Jenner!!! Edit: I'm watching it right now (for lack of anything else on TV) ...the door was open SKYDIVERGIRLS.COM

bob.dino 1 #5 January 19, 2006 Sounds like a version of an Aussie show of about a year ago called "Dancing with the Stars". Idea: get a bunch of washed up celebrities and get them into a ballroom-dancing comp.

FallinWoman 1 #8 January 19, 2006 I have a confession to make....I love watching ice skating. And I truly enjoyed this show. It was amazing what some of these celebrities could do after a month of training. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!
LuvToFly 0 #9 January 19, 2006 QuoteJillian Barbarie (or whatever the hell her name is) absolutely smoked everyone just now with her performance. She looked pro. She started figure skating as small child and continued through to teenage years. She is also a dancer. So it's not entirely surprising she did so well. But Jenner, ma' man! 55! In another 35 years, I'll be 55, and it's great to know that there's hope! (Definitely have some swamp land to sell ya' if you believe that one...) It was amazing what some of these celebrities could do after a month of training. To me, watching figure skating is kind of like watching opera. I just sit there and wonder, "Why in the fuck would anybody *want* to do that?". It's like ballet--it seems unnatural, like humans just weren't designed to do that kind of thing. Sort of like going to church and sitting in those rock-hard wooden pews and doing it week after week, or watching baseball. It just doesn't seem quite human. To each his own, though. This time, I found it kind of cool to watch. Walt
