How do you define

Recommended Posts

Ok well since I mentioned it in another thread I decided to start this one to keep that thread cleaned up. How do you define friends?

Here are my definitions

Friend: Someone who I call, and they call back regullarly. Someone who will think of me when they want to chill. Someone who I can go out drinking with, and am ok with having them around my kids. Somene who is willing to do stuff for me without asking for anything in return. I usually give some kind of a return on investment anyway. That's all I can think about for now.

Aquaintance: Someone I know. I probibly have thier number programmed in my phone, but they never think of me. They don't generally return my phone calls. These people may choose to hang out/ help out if it is convieniant for them. These are the people who when they see you say something like, "Wow it's been so long since I have seen you. I was starting to wonder what happened to you." I have a phone you have the number if you were really concerned you would have called.

Buddies: People who share similiar interests, and you build a rapour with them while you are doing said activity. Ie at the paintball field I have quite a few buddies. Buddies are nice to have. However they are only in one part of your life, and only know that one part of you life. I do not rely on buddies for anything except maybe some tech help while we are involved in said activity.

Sometimes the lines get blurred a little between the three classifications. For instance I recently had a buddy insall a new (to me) intake manifold onto my truck. He had it lying around and wanted to get rid of it. He gave it to me for free, and he even offered to buy me food while I was there. So there you see a biddy crossing into the friend status. However will I hang out with him again, maybe if the website I met him on is having another user meet for the NY chapter. http://www.ramchargercentral.com Sorry had to do it shameless plug. However if anyone is into mopar trucks that's a good place to be.
