jclalor 12 #1 February 7, 2009 I have hrard that if a person is unconscious under canopy that they will slowly go into a spiral, Is this true ?
Waldschrat 0 #2 February 7, 2009 This depends on planform and wingload, but generally, if your are numb, in your harness, you have a tendency to lay you body to one side. This will cause, especially on elliptical mains, or higher loaded tarp's, a slower, or higher speed spiral or turn to one side. (more if your brakes already set)
NWFlyer 2 #3 February 7, 2009 Not necessarily. I was unconscious under canopy a few years ago (fairly lightly loaded Spectre) and flew in a straight line (away from the regular landing area, but according to eyewitnesses, totally straight). More about it here if you're interested."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
sunshine 2 #4 February 7, 2009 I was unconscious under canopy before and didn't spiral. I was extremely light headed, but managed to unstow my brakes. I remember setting up my landing pattern, but then i blacked out. Woke up on the ground. Landed with no flare, but flew a straight in approach. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
