had no idea...personally, both AC and Ron never rubbed me the wrong way. AC struck me as a "pot-stirrer" which is always fun, and Ron struck me as "that guy who speaks his mind, even though it might piss you off". as far as ron is concerned, i think i've learned quite a lot from his posts. for AC, well, i think i nearly spit coffee on the computer at least a few times reading his threads.

there was a post somewhere about Ron, i think it was incidents, i can't recall it at the moment, but it was rather well written and i wish i could copy/paste it here...

the perma ban is a biatch, and as rl said, this ain't no democracy. so although i might fly the flag for the both of you, i'm not going to hold my breath waiting for a mod to lift the ban. maybe the comprimise is a men's forum, where we can all pretend we're 12, and throw rocks at one another w/o fear of the consequences.

I'm just killing time, really and like skydivers, so this "was" fun. That's all it's about for me.

I don't know Alex, seems nice enough, like to hear his thoughts (except those last few new posts - I thought they'd warrant a temporary ban, but not permanent - it might be a good time to pay attention and see that we have a much stronger policy towards blatantly hurtful trolling - although I suspect it was less that than a misunderstanding of some people's humor - same thing happened to Ian. But at least they balanced out someone I won't mention).

I do know Ron and like him just fine - so don't speak for all of us on the personal stuff, if you don't mind.

A forum is not a great place to pass judgement on someone personally, and for that matter, the only vibe I ever got from Ron was that honesty and directness were most important to him and he wouldn't back down just for someone else's crappy biases or PC discomfort and desire to hide from truth.

I also find skiing to be pretty fun unless it's rocky out, but the clothes aren't much comfortable when you're swimming.

Alex does a lot of things, but he would never have gone into Squink's grief thread and disrupted it in the very mean way Ian did.

Quite truly, my perception of Ian was colored by that and that alone, and as far as I was concerned, it was more than enough to put him out on his ear.
