homer 0 #1 January 24, 2006 For those of you who are turkey hunters and use a mouth call whats the best way to clean and dry them without messing up the latex reeds. I usually rinse them off with water and put a toothpick between the latex to prevent the reeds from sticking together when drying. I will from time to time soak them in mouth wash when they start to taste bad. CSA #699 Muff #3804

nws01 0 #3 January 24, 2006 I just get a mega phone and walk through the woods yelling, "Here turkey, turkey, turkey!" Then when I see it I say, "Come here. That's a good turkey. You're such a good turkey." Then I grab it by the neck and start swinging it in circles to break the neck. I recommend going places where they have recently had a forest fire and doing the above for smoked turkey.
blueskyserenity 0 #4 January 24, 2006 I usually just rinse them in water and pat dry. I ALWAYS store them in the fridge to keep the reeds from drying out though. Kindof funny when people reach for the butterI like coconuts. You can break them open and they smell like ladies lying in the sun!

azureriders 0 #6 January 24, 2006 Take the tap recorder out in the back yard, spred out some corn so the tame turkeys come up to feed, press record. Find a nice place to hide in the woods, press play and wait for the wild turkeys to show up. The tape requires no washing or dying, however it is not a good idea to let the game warden in on your plans. I also know a way to trap as many live turkeys as you want, takes about a week of prep but you can litterally catch the whole flock. Once more, no game wardens
jdthomas 0 #7 January 25, 2006 Just learn to call with out the use of any call.. It takes a bit of time to learn and you may loose your voice after a hard morning of hunting.. but you can do it even if you don't think you sound like a turkey now. Watch turkey hunting shows but don't actually watch the show, just listen to the guys calling.. I have not used a call in years and I have had great hunting seasons. If all else fails, just get a good flashlight and go early! Oh and watch for the man if you use that method! Joewww.greenboxphotography.com
