Let's hold off on that. The family would like to avoid getting too many people involved with digging around. There are already various BASE jumpers checking sites at my request, as well as an official law enforcement investigation. We'd like to avoid muddying things up for the real professionals (the police), so we're trying to keep too many people that we don't know about from running out to check things out.

Missing persons posters are being faxed to dropzones, so the word will be fairly widespread, in any case.

I'll try to post updates here, and keep it floating near the top for a while.

That's good! At this point, it's best left to law enforcement. You're right on the mark about too many, messing up any evidence, tracks or whatever. Anyone with any information, should get it to the police. My prayers are with his family.

On the other hand, if anyone knows the other two people involved, that information would probably be most helpful.

This can be taken for what it's worth. Our local news, has been running a story about this situation and they continually make reference to the B.A.S.E. jumpers 'code of ethics', to 'not tell where a body is in the case of a death as a result of a B.A.S.E. jump'.
To me, this is wrong. The family of this man needs to and has a right to know, where their son is. Dead or alive, they have a right to know. Witholding information is wrong, especially when worried parents are involved. It's too bad if, there may be a fine for trespassing.
Whoever has information in regard to this matter, should do the right thing and step-up. Even if, it is done 'anonymously'. JMO

I'd appreciate it if people would stop bumping this up.

I made a mistake in posting here. I thought if anyone knew Scott's companions, they might be found more easily, but all this thread has done is led some posters to the base forum who have contributed nothing of substance except an attack on Scott's mother.

All in all, I am just chagrined at my own foolishness.

I apologize for hiding my views from the BASE board when I had a chance to voice my thoughts and the agreement I had with you and lawrocket. I hope that this is not what several of us have been feeling it may be.

I have not heard one person even voice that they had ever known, met, jumped or heard of Scott. If this were someone who I knew Id be finding a way to help. Not one person has stated anything, and skydiving and BASE are small sports. The fact that NOONE has come forward is fishy.

i agree with you that things aren't adding up, but can we err on the side of caution though until we know more? at this point i can only assume that we have gotten a lot of bad info. so much so that the only thing we really know is that a man is missing and his family is going through hell right now. while you are certainly free to express your opinion, if you are wrong in your assessment then you may be pooring salt on a wound. if you are right, then it will come out and it may be better discussed then.
