Does anyone else have this problem?

Recommended Posts

I feel like light bulbs die quite easily and often, when I go to turn on lights. This happens to me everywhere, such as my home, other people's homes and various other places. The light will give a big flash, then burn dead in my face. This happens to me so often that it isn't even funny, anymore. It's downright odd!

It's interesting that this has to do with energy. So, am I the only freak?

Buy the energy saver bulbs that are like 15 watts and give off 75 or 100 watts of light.. never happens to me at all now...its all I have in my house..

Me too. No, I have come to the conclusion that it may NOT be the lightbulbs. It doesn't seem to happen when anyone else around me turns on the lights, just me.

WTH? I wouldn't have mentioned it, if it hadn't begun happening like crazy last year and also this one.

I've always thought the same thing... It'll even happen to me when I'm driving on the highway. The lights around me turn off sometimes just as I drive under them.:S

One trick I learned on one of my many travels when it comes to light bulbs: using a hammer and small nail, gently hammer the nail into the bulb, ever so softly. Then remove the nail. Using a microscopic funnel (you find them at any good midget appliance stores), slowly pour motor oil into the bulb,, about 3/4 full. Then soak the bulb in quick drying cement for 2 days. You'll be surprised how much lifetime it adds to the light bulb.

I hope this was useful. Let me know how it goes.:|

I've been known to kill even the most hardy of sodium vapor lights. No light lasts very long around me.:|

Nothing to do with light bulbs, but my deaf pastor told me about the time he was in the hospital recovering from an operation to remove cancerous tissue. He had a TV in his room and watched it a lot, but every time he noticed a beautiful nurse pass by or enter his room, the TV went kaput! No, I'm serious! :D:D:D They went through 4 or 5 TVs before they decided to give him a male nurse.:ph34r::ph34r:

Me too - it's really irritating.

Btw, if that new avatar is you - you're hot. Too bad you couldn't come to Eloy with Orchid and me.

I know this is probably not pc, but I cannot stand the energy efficient bulbs. They do not seem as bright as the incandescent ones. They also make your skin look jaundiced. Maybe I've tried the wrong brand.[:/]

Mee too, it's even weirder, see: I'm driving and there 's no light whatsoever and just when I drive by there comes a flashing light and then nothing; I've always wondered where that came from... :S

Yup.

Happens to me all the time. I buy lightbulbs by the case.

Sometimes they burn out just from me looking at them.
I glance over and ...pop!

Used to think it was faulty wiring in my house, but it happens no matter where I am, not just at my house (of which I've had several.

They say that just the act of observing something changes it.

In our case I think focusing our attention on it screws them up somehow.

I'm only glad that its just lightbulbs :)
