peacefuljeffrey 0 #1 January 31, 2006 Mention of Muttley and Dastardly reminded me of the cartoons I used to watch as a kid. Some of them were early morning ones, and some were around dinnertime. - Ricochet Rabbit and Droopalong ("Bing, bing, BIIING!... Ricocheeeeet Rabbit!") - Deputy Dawg - Hector Heathcoate (it was set in colonial times, and Hector was a screwup) - Wacky Racers (a lot like "Stop the Pigeon," but with cars.) - Droopy (was kind of linked with the Woody Woodpecker series somehow) Please post names and descriptions of ollllld cartoons that you remember from your childhood, and about when it was that you were watching them.-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Um... ...I was watching cartoons in the 60s. And then I watched them all again (sort of) in the 80s. The only really good new thing to come along in between were Smurfs. rl P.S. I was always in love with Speed Racer. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
Peej 0 #3 January 31, 2006 Hey, i remember Ricochet Rabbit, he was one in a series of cartoons that used to be on just before the 7am news when i was a kid. We used to watch them while we ate breakfast before school. I can't remember many of them, there was a really crap one called Doctor Snugges though, i hated him. I'm young enough to remember rushing home from school to watch the Thunder Cats, Ninja Turtles, Bravestar and a few others though. My favourite is still Robotech. tumbler 0 #5 January 31, 2006 YAKKY DOODLE (and Chopper)-- The little yellow bird and the bulldog saving his feathers... I liked them the most when I was a kid. Augie Doggie and Auggie Daddy? Father and son dog team.. Quick Draw McGraw as El Kabong.. And they were only on Saturday morning starting at 6. It was the best thing to wake up early to watch cartoons with a bowl of Count Chocula! Johnny Quest - (Show that the Venture Brothers on Adult Swim is sort of loosely based on-) Magilla Gorilla Captain Cave Man I could think of a BUNCH more but I'm not quite awake yet - and really ought to get my ass back to work - - I used to watch a BUNCH of vintage Popeye cartoons as a kid, many in "black-n-white" along with Bugs Bunny cartoons that are way to politically incorrect now. ("Bugs Bunny vs. The Nips", for instance-) Alot of the earlier Tom and Jerry would be non-PC now too. Easy Does It

Guest #24 January 31, 2006 Quote IBugs Bunny cartoons that are way too politically incorrect now. ("Bugs Bunny vs. The Nips", for instance-) Ah, yes, the Warners "Dirty Dozen". Very rarely seen now, and highly sought after by aficcianados. The boys in the Termite Terrace loved jazz, so they made a spoof of popular black jazz musicians of the 30s and 40s. ("Clean Pastures") However, because they are charicatures with exaggerated appearance and behavior (read - stereotypes), the cartoon is nowadays considered racially offensive. Maybe one day we'll get past all that.
JohnMitchell 16 #25 January 31, 2006 Oh yeah, I loved them all. Bugs, the Roadrunner, and Fogorn Leghorn. Johnny Quest was cool. Also had Clutch Cargo, Tom Slick, and George of the Jungle. Don't forget Underdog, with the voice of Wally Cox. When I was a real little tyke, Mighty Mouse was my favorite. I even had a MM stuffed animal I would drag around the house.
