SkydiveStMarys 0 #1 February 2, 2006 What is your favorite all time VINYL album.....that you just had to get on CD? Some thing from Peter Frampton? Rolling Stones? The Beatles? The Who? Key to this post is that it had to come out on VINYL first. Does anyone still have a record player and use it? BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. mailin 0 #2 February 2, 2006 Rick Wakeman's journey to the center of the earth - fantastic, um... alternate reality... album Hubby and I got a new stereo last year and spent a ridiculous amount of money on our turn table - it sounds incredible! We bought the Foo Fighters new double album (on vinyl obviously) to celebrate. Vinyl just sounds better than regaular CDs. DVD-A/5.1 or 6.1 surround, well, nothing beats that. Brought out some old Jazz records last weekend - Jaco Pastorius (I think it came out on vinyl first - 1979) sounds so much better on a platter than CD Ya, I'm a geeky audiophile... SkydiveStMarys 0 #4 February 2, 2006 Speaking of the Beatles...I just read John by Cynthia Lennon...great book!! I have all of the Beatles albums, will never let them go, but sadly don't have a turn table to play them on. Got rid of it a few years back. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. Peej 0 #7 February 2, 2006 Yup sadly the only Vinyl that i know about is the stuff my DJ friends play on and even that's being phased out as digital dj'ing takes over. Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky

KindredSpirit 0 #14 February 2, 2006 There is NO WAY vinyl 'sounds' better than digital. Vinyl has limited dynamic and frequency range plus you cannot eliminate the noise of the needle running through the groove. I do have many records but give me a CD any day. And there's that great moment of anticipation between the sound of the needle hitting the record and the start of your favourite song. But I don't have the patience for vinyl anymore. And in the age of downloading, even my CD collection is making me feel like a dinosaur...
skybytch 273 #19 February 2, 2006 Quote What is your favorite all time VINYL album.....that you just had to get on CD? In the first year I had a CD player, every CD I bought was something I already had on vinyl. But there's one album that I've owned in album, 8 track, cassette and CD format. Pink Floyd's The Wall. I've got two turntables and three milk cartons full of vinyl in storage. The rest of my stereo drowned in Florida but as soon as I can afford to replace it they'll be coming out and getting used again. I miss my vinyl.
