Do you wanna know? (aka schrodinger's cat)

Recommended Posts

OK.... I interviewed for a position in TX last week. I haven't heard back yet... probably not for another week or so. But it got me to thinking.

Are you the type that HAS to know the answer (even if it will kill the cat), or can you live in the limbo of uncertainty?

Ah, quantum physics. Love it love it.

From that perspective, you both got the job and lost the job, for while you don't truly know, both possibilities exist in a superposition of outcomes. B|

"Do not try and kill the cat. That's impossible. Instead ... only try to realize the truth."
"What truth?"
"There is no cat."
"There is no cat?"
"Then you'll see that it is not the cat that dies, it is only yourself."

Nope.

You can't kill the cat. The cat walks through walls.

Think of it as an IQ test, Rémi.

If someone isn't smart enough to get the joke, is s/he at least smart enough to realize that there is a joke?

glutton for punishment huh? i hope you get it. all the hard work will really pay off. my wife wants to move to texas and open up a practice. she wants to team up with a anesthetist and a plastic surgeon and do rejuvination and labiaplasty. she wants to call it "lip service". this is right in line with the personalized license plate she wants to get that says "BOXDOC".

Yes, but only if the decision to give her the job or not give her the job can be modeled accurately as a random process which, arguably, it can not. :|

Hmm...good point. I'll bet there's a way to create a scenario where that decision has no choice BUT to be a random process.

I don't know if I would have a better chance with it being random or not. . . :S:S:S

Still waiting, but soon I will know the answer. (Hopefully VERY soon)

that said, i also have a rough idea of the salaries down there, and i would be excited to know the answer too.

Not to mention the low cost of living down here. Not a bad place to live.

Random number generation is surprisingly hard.

And a random number generator could, ostensibly, produce the same number many times in a row, which would initially appear to the uninitiated to be NOT random.
