The Boeing 777-200LR, new long distance champ:

Hong Kong to London 13422 miles in less than 22 hours: B|

In a normal flight with safety margin, etc, it can take 301 mixed class passengers 9966 miles.

Singapore-New York in a little more than 18 hours.

Pakistan to the US, and Sydney to Toronto or New York are other long distance routes the plane will serve.

Very cool I think. I also think that the Boeing is smart to more agressively go after the thing that so many want, and get nowadays from airlines - point to point service with more flights (with the 777 and 787), a type of service not easy to do with ultra big planes. Airbus' pursuit of having the biggest plane may be an economic failure just as the concorde was. Boeing was smart to cancel their supersonic program, and a much less expensive, slightly larger 747 can acccomplish what the market demands in large planes.

In my previous work life, I designed about 40 switch panels in the flight deck for the 777, hence that part of my username. I'm not a pilot, but sure learned a lot about the systems and flight crew operations.
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

Man, I did London to HK in about 14 hours on a 747. I'm not getting on a plane that flies that slowly... :P

I think the difference is that they flew east from Hong Kong (the long way). :D
