happythoughts 0 #1 February 6, 2006 Dove Products Dove is sponsoring some "body image" ads about the idea of "perfection" and how it impacts young girls. From the page: "92% of girls want to change at least one aspect of their appearance. Dove believes all girls deserve to see how beautiful they really are and is committed to raising self-esteem in girls everywhere." Irony? Also on the same page: Links for "Your Hair", "Your Face", "Your skin" Next, when you click on the "Campaign for Real Beauty" link: A pic of an Asian girl with a caption, "She wishes she were blonde. Irony? When you click on the ad for "Your Hair" ? It's a pic of a bunch of beautiful blonde hair. Last, on the Real Beauty link... A mention of an award. The 2005 "Kiss of Beauty Award" from none other than CosmoGirl. I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night. What is the most polite way to use the phrase BS in an email ? Samurai136 0 #2 February 6, 2006 Little lost on this one. I counted 15 non-blonde images on their web site and only 2 blondes. Over all their web site seems to represent a very diverse spectrum of models. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

lawrocket 3 #4 February 6, 2006 I'm pouring through the site looking for anyone with unsightly blemishes and acne. It's interesting that it's about "beautiful skin." In know that my skin makes me look like I had a fire put out on my face with an ice pick. Maybe had I used Dove products, it wouldn't have happened. But, I still must give Dove some credit for at least trying to put out there that you don't have to be an anorexic waif to be beautiful. My wife is hotter than your wife.
