MrBrant 0 #1 February 5, 2006 Well, yesterday was yet another beautiful day of winter jumping. We somehow found one of the coldest day YET this year to do it though. (but, with this freakishly warm weather, it still wasn't bat - started out around -20, but climbed to above -15 later in the day) This time around it was bright and sunny! unlimited ceiling, and the only cloud in the sky was from the Crown Royal plant. We had total of 8 jumpers show up to brave the cold in pursuit of sport we all know and love. The 182 flew a total of five loads, with most people making 2 jumps each. I learn the hard way that the snow wasn't nearly as soft as last time though. I went to do a "dig a hole, and get stuck in snow up to your waist" landing (as was fun 2 weeks ago). Unfortunately, the snow was nice and hard, and (to the delight of the others watching) I ended up bouncing (ouch, I hate that word) up about 3 feet to finally land about 5 feet from initial touchdown. But all was well, and no injuries (the snow wasn't THAT hard) Other memorable events include: - First winter jumps for Cliff, Allan, Joe, Kevin, and two other Steinbach-ians I forget your names - sorry guys! (we're still waiting on the beer) - First jump on non-student gear for Cliff (transition to a sabre 210 from a Manta) - I think he liked it - First downwind landing (5mph) for Cliff on said gear. And he stood it up! Great job buddy! - hauling up and helping to install a huge fucking picture window in the DZO's house after a long day of jumping. Looks great now, and we scored a free dinner out of it! Thanks Andrea and Hutch! Unfortunately, I forgot my camera this week, and wasn't able to get any pictures. But I do have a few from 2 weeks ago. Only three of us came out to jump then, but that was a blast too! (although that week was a little cloudy, and we only got H&P's) So, without further adieu, I give you last weeks pictures:
cocheese 0 #2 February 5, 2006 Something those southern folk will never understand. Looks like a great day to back fly for 8 seconds. Just think, in 3 more years you won't have the desire to jump below 40F.
MrBrant 0 #3 February 5, 2006 i dunno about that. The 2 other jumpers in the first pic with me have been at this since before I was born

pincheck 0 #5 February 5, 2006 There is nothing quite like a cold winters day when the sky is clear and the air crisp. Ride up is normal running in, the door opens the cold air rush's in your breathe freezes. The spotter sticks his head out to spot, comes back in (the bottom of his visor frosted) time to go wouldn't miss subzero jumps for the anything well maybe hot scandanvian chick in a sauna Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun

ladyskydiver 0 #8 February 6, 2006 I remember those days. I have officially become a weather wienie. I refuse to jump when it's that flippin' cold out anymore. Life is short! Break the rules! anewempire 0 #11 February 6, 2006 ha, and i thought yesterday was cold. it was in the 30s in the morning and low 40s or so the rest of the day. i had on a long-sleeve shirt, t-shirt over it, 2 jackets, and a jump suit. it definitely kept me warm and from feeling any wind except for my hands and face. my hands were numb even with my nice leather gloves on and my face felt like it was getting burned off by the wind (i definitely need to get some sort of face protection. i almost didn't do my last jump of the day cause i was so cold. i don't see how you guys do it
