Cooking on a first date?

What do you guys think?

If the guy's a really good cook, and wanted to make, say, a 4 cheese tortellini with marinara sauce served over a herb-encrusted chicken breast, with a side of breadsticks?

Very impressive. YES. Cook on the first date. B|

(I was impressed when my man made me mac n' cheese after I had had surgery.)

Love a guy who can cook! if you do it well, I say go for it. :)

Yeah... I'm a guy who can cook, and my girlfriend is a really good cook, too. Now we cook together.

In fact, the way I hit on her was, she was working in a health food grocery store and I was there to pick up ingredients for vegan chili. I asked her when she'd be working next, and I would bring her a sample of my very first ever batch of vegan chili (I usually make it with meat). She went for it, and loved the chili (it really was good, actually). I brought it to her work and we ate it at the cashier's counter. :)

Of course you should cook if you know how to do it. Costco sells some fine 4-cheese tortellini. Have it thawed and resting bu a floured cutting board when she arrives to give her the idea that you made it.

Costco also sells herb-encrusted chicken breasts. Thaw those in a ziplock so it looks like you seasoned them from scratch.

Breadsticks are available all over. Just pull them out of the oven right as she arrives.

Add some Prego and voila! You have now cooked for your lady! Chicks dig it.

It worked for me a few years back. I didn't know she was a good cook. I didn't expect to be cooking and just threw something together. She was impressed. It lasted a whole 4 months. Oh well, at least I got a good recipe for roast pork tender loin.

I've cooked for several of my female friends... though I'm not sure I would qualify them as "dates"... perhaps practice dates...

My favorite is something along the lines of Blackened (or Grilled) Salmon, with light pasta sprinkled with cheese (Parmesan, Romano, etc), and fresh Chopped Vegetables (what ever is available at the grocery or local farm market) either blanched or sauted with white wine such that they are still crispy...

With this a good White wine or a light red wine (like a pino noir)

Dessert is always a good thing too... I like to bake...

take her to McDonalds ;)

if she really wants to be there then on the second date when she expects McDonalds. Then she shows up and dinner is served.

Dont waste the skills on the first date, run her through the gauntlet first. lets u know she is worth the effort. ;)

Sounds yummy. I say go for it (assuming you already know she's not a vegetarian). :)

you could go with alphredo over marinara, unless you have a kick-ass marinara. last time i cooked for a first date, i made cap'n crunch chicken. she thought it was the oddest things to mix children's cereal with dinner, but we're now married. who's the odd one now?
